Casta 85 — Restaurant in Alenquer

We went to Casta 85 based on the photos and menus present here on the reviews.

It's a misdirection that actually during these summer times they operate outside with a totally different menu ( no notification on the website or here ). What you get is just basic grilled meat and some re heated food. I guess the chef might be on vacation or something so they provide some other stuff.

My sister's chicken was black outside and bloody inside. If i were to guess is that they just cook every type of meat in the same fire and in the same way. We mentioned this, they asked her if she wanted to cook the chicken more, which she replied no ( since it was already charcoal on the surface ), so she ordered some extra alheira balls which were tasty. They still charged everything in the end =/

My meat was okish, they didnt ask us before hand if we wanted well done or rare or medium. Mine was very rare.

The pastels for starters might not have been bought as frozen food from the supermarket but they did taste like it.

The codfish was good. The novilho aba was dry.

Meats are overpriced for the quality, you could easily have some nice grelhados in a cheap town cafe for half or a third of the price. Unfortunately not to be repeated. My father was kind of furious and got a bit heated, sorry for that, but you didnt offer anything back or apologized for the service.

FYI: Please for the sake of god, if you have a different concept for summer just give it another name, like, i dont know : Terrace - by Casta 85; to differentiate...

Vila de Alenquer ... é simplesmente apaixonante, a 50km de Lisboa .... dada as características é quase um milagre ser uma pequena Vila viva ... o presépio é só um aproveitamento inteligente daquela encosta ... Há uns 3 ou 4 anos nasce um doce Bodinhas do Espírito Santo num concurso regional, e tornou se o Ex-líbris da Confraria do Café um espaço agradável que não dispenso uma visita quando por lá passo ... e a sorte de ter em Lisboa perto de casa, as Bodinhas, no CCAquaRoma lol O Casta 85 nunca me suscitou curiosidade á excepção da minha mulher que insistia, insistia, .... esta semana engendrou uma passagem perto da hora de almoço e subimos a escada ..... Um Tornedó de Alheira com grelos em cama da maçã com batatas e enfeite de fritas? batata doce? adorei, uma sopa aveludada de Tomate, e leite creme com hortelã queimado .... nuns enervantes mini boiões com rebordo !!! onde se não for com o dedo fica lá uma parte !!! lamentavelmente frio e pseudo queimada ... tudo resolvia com tacinhas de barro á temperatura ambiente e queimado como deve ser ... na hora os boiões de vidro nem espaço têm para queimar o açúcar ... não ê Michelin graças a Deus, quantidade q.b. ... O patê e manteiga muito bom acompanha um saquinho de pão misto fatiado um pormenor delicioso, a decoração já conhecia numa visita de curiosidade, com gosto ... pormenores curiosos nos w.c. com fraldário .... Tem apenas duas paredes que lhe transmite uma deliciosa luz uma vista para o rio e para um pequeno largo ao qual foi restituido a sua beleza com a extração de um café aquário degradante envidraçado. Agora resta a visita nocturna .... que deve ser divinal ... fiquei fã e vou voltar ... tinhas...

It was a delightful unexpected experience! We had just arrived in Alenquer after a day traveling and I was starving. We didn't bother searching. We saw Casta 85 and asked if they would have a table for 2. Chef João was at the door and promptly explained us he was hosting an event with tasting menu + wine pairing and he had 2 seats only available. We jumped in and have no regrets. Friendly environment, excellent food and wine. I felt embraced by the whole scenario. I not only highly recommend but also would like to return as many times...
