Bom Gosto — Restaurant in Barcelos

This restaurant is the best. It was recommended to us and we are so glad we ate at Bom Gusto in Barcelos. We are two Aussies touring Portugal and are so pleased we found the best charcoal chicken restaurant in Portugal. I know good chicken when I eat it having grown up on a farm.

We prefer to eat early and it was no problem for the friendly and helpful staff (our Portuguese is terrible....sorry). Thankyou to our waiter, Francisco for your professionalism, warmth and helpfulness. We chose vegetable soup - full flavour and healthy. Mixed salad was a generous portion and the dressing was perfectly balanced. The frango do charrasco was superb! (Charcoal chicken) We saw them being cooked over hot coals at the front of the restaurant- they smelt so good. And they tasted even better! The chicken was moist and was cooked perfectly. Every mouthful was a delight. I very much enjoyed the saffron rice that came with the chicken and fries. The fries were crispy and tasty and satisfied the male half of our table. We had asked a local where we would find the best charcoal chicken and here it is. Plenty of food for 22 Euros including 2 beers. Great local restaurant that is warm and welcoming. You'll congratulate yourself when you go....

conozco este restaurante desde hace muchos años, hemos comido unas cuantas veces y todo bien, sin embargo hoy fuimos a comer al llegar habia gente esperando como suele ser habitual,di mi nombre para acceder luego a la mesa para lo cual salen a la puerta y llaman por el nombre que dejaste,nos llamaron a mi esposa y a mi y a otra pareja que llego despues,al llegar al salon no nos dicen que mesa nos corresponde,la pareja que entro detras nuestra se sientan en una mesa de cinco comensales al preguntarle cual es nuestra mesa nos dice si nos vale una mesa para dos que esta junta con otra donde ya estan sentadas cuatro personas al decirle que alli ya estan sentados y no vas a interrumpir su intimidad nos dice que va a quedar una mesa vacia que salgamos para fuera y que nos llama,esperamos diez minutos y nos fuimos sin comer,a todo esto ya habiamos estado esperando cuarenta minutos, cuando entramos al pasar vimos que habia mesas vacias ,esperamos casi una hora para irnos sin comer me da pena tener que poner esta queja ya que estoy muchas veces por todo portugal y es gente educada en trato y meticulosa en su trabajo menos...

Nice restaurant that does an amazing barbecue chicken with chips and rice. Didn't have to wait very long to get seated. The waiter was awesome and very and helpful. I spoke a bit of Portuguese which is a bit like Spanish I guess. Highly recommend to go ear there. Very cheap prices...
