Restaurante La Família — Restaurant in Braga

I recently had dinner at Restaurante La Família, located on Rua de Baixo in Braga. The moment I stepped inside, I appreciated the modern yet cozy décor—warm lighting, a feature wall of greenery, and a visible meat-aging display that sets the tone for a quality dining experience.

I began with grilled asparagus wrapped in prosciutto—fresh, bright, and just the right opener. For the main, I opted for a perfectly cooked entrecôte, tender and juicy, served on a wooden board with a side of crisp vegetables and a flavorful jus. The steak was rich without feeling heavy, and the sides were excellent companions.

Save room for dessert: the pudim Abade de Priscos was a delightful finale—creamy, caramel-sweet, and perfectly balanced to end the meal on a high note.

Service was impressively attentive and genuine. Staff made thoughtful suggestions, explained specials, and managed to be both professional and warm. The whole experience felt comfortable and well-paced.

1st time here, came with friends who live within walking distance. First thing you notice is the meat hanging in a cool refrigerator just to the right of the entrance door, then as you walk to the dining room, you pass the kitchen where you see the great chefs (one of them is co-owner with his wife, the great hostess). Big, beautiful dining room with views of the centro square. Foods, from starter to salad to main entries and desserts, fantastic!!! And great wine selection. And the service and servers were fantastic and for sure will be back and recommend reservations, if you want a seat, that's how good the food is and that's why they are packed!!

Primeira vez aqui, vim com amigos que vivem perto. A primeira coisa que se nota é a carne pendurada num frigorífico gelado mesmo à direita da porta de entrada. Depois, ao caminhar para a sala de jantar, passa-se pela cozinha, onde se vêem os excelentes chefs (um deles é co-proprietário com a sua mulher, a grande anfitriã). Sala de jantar ampla e bonita com vista para a praça central. Comida, desde a entrada à salada, dos pratos principais e sobremesas, fantástica!!! E ótima seleção de vinhos. The restaurant is beautiful and the waitress was very friendly and attentive to us. Our daughter enjoyed her cheeseburger kids menu and we were blown away by the grilled entrecôte and grilled Dorada.
