The Espetada, came out very gummy and filled with tendon. We tried telling the waiter that maybe the meat was old or maybe undercooked. Although, the waiter did not know English so we used google translate to get the message across, to which they reluctantly heated up the meat for us. Surprise! It was still tough, and we needed to spit out the rubbery pieces of meat. Very disappointing, since we came here just for the traditional Portuguese meat. The focaccia was flat, not fluffy, at least it was hot, although there wasn’t much herbs. Hope they improve on that. Salad tasted alright not too much sauce or oil.

I definitely don't recommend this horrible "restaurant". The quality is completely disproportionate to the prices, which are very high. We ordered a prosciutto pizza. For almost 17 euros, we received a small pizza with too much cheese, a few slices of very poor quality ham, and worst of all, it was undercooked, with almost raw dough! We also asked for seasonal fruits listed on the menu. The waiter said they don't have any seasonal fruits, but later when we asked for the homemade dessert, it turned out that we could get seasonal fruit after all. Really poor value and service. Very disappointing experience.

This is a great restaurant. Traditional style, traditional food which is very well prepared. Portions are big and they have good prices. We had salad, potatoe fries and fish, everything was perfect. They serve Olives & Beans as amuse-gueule and in the end you get typical Madeira wine on the house. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Further they serve delicious Poncha here and the view is great. Thumbs up for this restaurant, I am happy to visit again.

The reason I am giving this hotel only 3 stars is that some rooms are separated by doors. You can hear everything from the next-door room. Build a proper wall between the rooms, please!||||||||Room||||||CONS: faulty mains socket, loose toilet seat, cracked wall tile, has connecting door (noise and smoke coming from the next-door room), low acoustic insulation, awkward stool position (you break your legs over it at night), room light too dim.||||||PROS: large room, WIFI, big bed, room well equipped, many cloths holders, excellent bathroom, air conditioning, effective curtains, daily cleaning service, balcony with fantastic sea-side view.||||||||Hotel||||||CONS: should have a gym, door to the terrace not closing properly.||||||PROS: perfect location (quiet area, view to the sea, close to a supermarket, close to a village centre & bus stop), beautiful garden, lovely rooftop terrace, swimming pool, lift, very helpful receptionists.||||||||Restaurant||||||CONS: meal variety (give your chef a cheap holiday in Egypt), no fruits (only cut pieces of pineapple or kiwi fruit), hot water available but no tea bags (tea has to be ordered), butter ice-cold (try and spread it - impossible). I had a half-board. One day dinner is served (instead of buffet) = less food, little choice. One day they force you to buy drinks for either 8 or 10 € = eat and pay or go and eat out.||||||PROS: nice restaurant, quiet calming background music, meals always tasty, fish every day, restaurant never crowded, open from 7 till 10.||||||||You won't regret choosing this hotel, if you get a room that is not connected with the next-door room or if that...

I enjoyed a wonderful week at the Quinta do Estreito Vintage House Hotel. The hotel is situated in an elevated position which provided an unspoiled ocean view from my room’s balcony (room 202) and also from the terrace upstairs. My room was thoroughly cleaned daily and was very comfortable and bright. I stayed here on a B&B basis; the breakfast buffet was very good ! I enjoyed fresh fruit and scrambled eggs with toast most days but there was a good choice of other food also. Breakfast is served in the Quinta, which lends itself nicely to be a dining area, or you can choose to eat on the terrace outside the Quinta. I thoroughly recommend the adjoining restaurant 'Adega da Quinta', which you can access from the hotel gardens, where I dined twice during my week's stay. There's parking available outside the front of the hotel, but when this was full, there's also secure underground parking underneath the hotel. Within a 5-minute walk downhill is a 'Continente' supermarket or uphill, further restaurants, cafés, bars and bus stops.||||I would like to thank all the staff at the hotel very much for making me feel so comfortable and welcome. ...
