Restaurante A Ginja — Restaurant in Câmara de Lobos

Atrocious service and atmosphere, but food was good. Small little restaurant with plenty of potential, but one staff member ruined our experience. Our evening started with no greetings from the waiter who sit us,and his attitude got worse throughout our meal. We ordered two half pints of beer which were poorly served by him, with too much foam, but we let it slide. When taking the remaining of the order, the waiter would not properly acknowledge what was said to him (in Portuguese), and brought us 3x the same wrong order, which was no onions in the salad. (Not that hard to remember). This waiter did not smile once or was even polite. Another staff kept apologising for his behaviour. We ordered a dessert and asked for the bill, after all staff had lost interest in our table. To finish off with the cherry on top, the same waiter brought the card machine and when he left he didn’t thanked us or said goodbye. To add to this ungodly customer service, the waiter stared us down when we walked off the restaurant. We do not recommend this place! No music or nice ambiance, and tv in the restaurant was transmitting the news. The staff ruined our experience and we will not be...

Fantastic local restaurant with the best Espetada in Madeira. The food was perfectly prepared. It was juicy with the right amount of garlic and salt. The fries were freshly made with a touch of garlic and the salad was fresh. The red wine from Douro area was a good choice with the meat. The staff are super nice and friendly and although they do not speak English very well you can feel you are welcomed and they take good care of you. Totally recommend and would definitely come back for the Espetada (with and without bone). The with bone option was even juicier and those who like their meat a bit more fatty (like I do) won't be disappointed with this...

Waitress was very rude and tried to push the most expensive bottle of wine on us by telling us how good it was - while hiding the price tag. The “fresh vegetables” on the menu were far from fresh, far from having any bite to it and far from having any taste. Meat was okay, sides were very little and expensive. After complaining, waitress said she would check, later just said she didn’t know if it was fresh or not....
