Probably one of my all time favorite restaurants in the entire country. And believe me, it has become a mission to me, when I return to my home country, to find these treasures. And this cellar comes right on top of that list! The environment couldn’t get any better, so after discovering the truth about the most well known discoverer of all times (Columbus was born in this village and not in Genova), you enter this wonderful place, based on a 200+ years old cellar building, all of it superbly decorated in the most traditional possible way and travel in time. The plates, cutlery and seats are something one won’t forget. It is a refined, exquisite and top class offer adding glamour to this experience. Then, the most important… the reason why one seats in a restaurant - the food! We went for Black Pork Meat Dishes - one finds him/herself with the hard task to choose out of a wide variety of these although there’s many other options, too. The portions are king size generous and the confection is just top notch. Get ready for Alentejo’s best quality food made by a high ranked chef and wide variety of wines of all sorts, all locally produced, including the cured black pork Ham, olives, olive oil, bread and cheeses. It’s just an adventure of flavors that will make one sleep a nap after this feast. Finish it with some heavenly made deserts and don’t forget to promote it afterwards. Thank you Monte Pedral team for keeping the level so high. We will keep...
Read moreOur hosts recommended this local restaurant. We arrived at 5 and found out that dinner is not served until 7. The outside bar area was open and we were treated very well until we could be seated for dinner. Dinner was worth waiting for!! Excellent local pork and almond/ gila cake. Our waiter, Alexander, was very attentive and accommodating! We even had photos taken with the chef. A fun experience and a contrast to the other regions of Portugal that we have visited. Their wine is available...
