Casa de Pasto 'O Vitor' — Restaurant in Faro

If you want real authentic local Portuguese food where lots of locals go to, this is one place you must go. The owner and his wife pretty run the whole place and we as a Canadian couple who does not speak one word of Portuguese happen on this busy place during lunch hours after our visit to the Palace of Estoi. The host speak English and help us in our order. We thoroughly enjoy the food especially the lunch special where we order fish ( pork chops was the other alternative) and it came as a 3 course meal ( salad, fish/pork, dessert and coffee or wine). The serving of the grill sardines was HUGH .... 9 grill fish for two of us!! and the taste was as Portuguese as you can get .... excellent! When the bill came we just gasp at it ....... only 20 euro for a 3 course meal...

Just out of cafe vitor in estoi. Quickest order brought to table ever. 2 and a half minutes and very tasty. That is until the bill came. There is no price list and no receipt. Owner Wright's the amount due on the table cloth. Portuguese couple next to us shaking their head and making clicking sounds. Gives out to owner but he holds firm we pay and local couple day we were charged more than double because we were visitors. So be aware of the rip off in cafe Vitor and call to the restaurant O Branquinho just round the corner where the exact meal for two with all the trimmings came to...

Just had a very good experience in this lovely family run restaurant. we are tourists who do not speak portuguese - though menu is hand written in portuguese. No problem. the owner is very friendly. Concept is simple. You choose a main, a drink. main comes with potato, salad and bread. There is dessert table that you can choose desert. Also had coffee. two adults and a child in total 35 EUR.
