The place is located slightly away from the main promenade in a rather secluded spot, and this is one of its main advantages - you can sit quietly and peacefully and enjoy your food. If you care about service and you are an independent traveller and not here with any tour groups or a local here you are third tier citizen when it comes to service and food .

As much as it has a good local authentic ambiance I feel discriminated but that is sadly how economics works . The business does need repeated clients and repeated businesses and hence as an independent traveller , who wish to embrace local culture , I definitely do not recommend this place . Marretas was perfect for our family group of 19. We made reservations. The boat taxi to Culatra was beautiful & fun. First we walked on the boardwalk to the beach on the west side of the island. The adults & kids all worked up an appetite. The fresh fish at Marretas was delicious--tuna steak, sea bass, sea bream, tender baby squid. The service & atmosphere were wonderful.
