The place is located slightly away from the main promenade in a rather secluded spot, and this is one of its main advantages - you can sit quietly and peacefully and enjoy your food. My oysters (€2 each) were incredibly fresh, and the tuna steak was huge in size and amazingly delicious - tender, rich, and just the right amount of buttery (they serve a separate herb-infused oil to enhance the richness). The restaurant is staffed exclusively by serious men (at least as waiters and behind the counter), and they also grill seafood on an open grill - this gives the feeling that you're in a real...

If you care about service and you are an independent traveller and not here with any tour groups or a local here you are third tier citizen when it comes to service and food .

As much as it has a good local authentic ambiance I feel discriminated but that is sadly how economics works . The business does need repeated clients and repeated businesses and hence as an independent traveller , who wish to embrace local culture , I definitely do not recommend this place . There are other places on this island that will make you feel much more welcome and also with an authentic and...

Marretas was perfect for our family group of 19. We made reservations. The boat taxi to Culatra was beautiful & fun. First we walked on the boardwalk to the beach on the west side of the island. The adults & kids all worked up an appetite. The fresh fish at Marretas was delicious--tuna steak, sea bass, sea bream, tender baby squid. The service & atmosphere were wonderful. A casual, homey place so we felt comfortable singing happy birthday to our 80-year-old birthday boy....

Our captain brought us here. The fish was cooked on the BBQ directly in front of us. Sardines served with a simple salad and boiled potatoes. Total treat for the senses. Service was attentive and friendly. We really enjoyed it here. Note that Apple Pay isn’t accepted here, but card payments are.

Recommended by Carlus from Culatra tours. Outside in the shade we ate clams as an appetizers and for the main dish we had tuna; caught only two hours before. For dessert chocolate cake which was soo good we didn't want to share, so we didn't. Would fully recommend it.
