Pep’s — Restaurant in Figueira da Foz

Not my first time coming to this place. It’s a very inconsistent restaurant and the quality of the food and service really depends on how busy the beach is on that day. If it’s a nice sunny day and the area is crowded you might find the staff to be a bit grumpy and stressed, messing up the orders etc. Although the local fish being served is incredible and definitely a must have when visiting Cova Gala, the place has some clear issues. Expect a lot of waiting, order mistakes and some angry customers in the tables around you. I waited approximately 5 minutes to be seated, 15 minutes to get my order taken, and 1 HOUR...

From the outset I would say the food was a bit too salty for both my wife and I (we do not use much salt though), BUT it was very good. Not the star of the show, but my wife thinks possibly the best potatoes she has ever had. On the whole all of the food was very good, well cooked and tasty. It was not that busy the time we were in, but the service we got was amazing, to the point our waiter went and looked up the fish so we knew what it was in English. The food was not great. We ordered the seafood platters which were seasoned terribly with cinnamon and ginger which made the seafood taste sweet - not a great combination of flavours in my opinion. Also a little over cooked. In contrast the meat had no seasoning at all. The service was good and we were allowed to take our time with eating even though we arrived a little late. Would not come again for a meal. Coffee maybe as it’s convenient location...
