La Carbonara — Restaurant in Funchal

We fancied pizza and found this place by chance. The couvert of tremoso smelled like it was off so we didn't eat. I shared a mamma mia pizza with hubby - i didn't like it so only had half a piece. He managed to finish half of it. Daughter had a Picado de carne which she had only about half as the dish was enourmous. I tried and it tasted good. My daughter woke up 2am vomiting, mostly the meat she had for dinner. She spent the next day vomiting anything she put on her mouth. Hubby still has a stomachache. Unfortunately I have to say we had the worst Pizzas of our live which is really sad. The pizzas have absolutely no taste, no sauce and bland is a complement for what we had. I am not sure why the place has such good ratings. I read "authentic Italian" somewhere, that must have been a joke. Bruschetta with cheese, al arrabiata with bacon, its horrible. It’s a restaurant placed in a weird abandoned shopping center, but inside the restaurant looks fine. We ordered pizza and pasta. Every pizza had too much cheese and close to none tomato base. If we overlook the fact that you won’t taste any tomato base the pizza was good. The pasta was fine, but it wasn’t al dente at all and there were ingredients that shouldn’t traditionaly be there.
