Don't even know where to start... first, once seated, we waited about an hour for our order to be taken. The beach club's windows were completely closed on a 35°C - a glass box under the sun. It was a sauna! All the fans at the establishment were off! We asked the waiters to turn the fans on countless times, but it seemed no one had the "authority" to do so?... We also had to disturb all the surrounding tables who were visibly sweating to ask if we could open all the windows and turn on all the fans. Following this, the wine took almost another hour to arrive at the table... when the wine finally arrived, they left it at the table without opening it! All the shared appetizers were great and were preventing me from giving 1 star, but the main dishes were terrible; the Paella was one of the worst I've ever had. The shrimp Paella was like an overcooked porridge with barely any taste. It seemed like it wasn't even salted during prep. The squid ink Paella was edible and a little tastier, but still overcooked and dry. Neither Paella had any crunchy soccarrat. They were cooked like a stew, left to dry, and served cold 🤯 See plate image. The steaks were tiny and had no visible crust. And when the bill came, we noticed something was wrong. When we arrived we had asked about corkage fees as we had a special french red in the car we hadn't consumed yet. One waiter told us it was 10eur - great! We had a couple bottles of white before and then enjoyed our red. When the bill came, there was no visible corkage fee, and the red we brought was charged 80eur (the price of all the other bottles of white we consumed)... When we complained, another waiter told us the venue did not offer corkage fees. Very disorganized, chaotic, unbearable, and super noisy place. And the food consumed at the beach beds before lunch... My god! Saddest and cheapest quesadilla and tuna wraps I've ever overspent on, industrial premade supermarkets ones are better. The quesadilla was literally a warm wrap bread and a slice of plastic-like cheese. Even the beetroot "hummus" wasn't hummus, it was simply beetroot pulp... you guys must have great margins 😂 There are so many more venues with food that are prepared and served with more...
Read moreWe had lunch here this week and wanted to try it owing to the vibe and view. What a view!
The food was nice but a little expensive. That said the burrata salad was outstanding. I could have happily just had that. The catch of the day main was disappointing and lacked depth and flavour as is the lobster roll which is one to avoid as it’s mainly stodgy bread sadly.
However the main problem here is the service. We had a reservation and were seated immediately but it was then a further 40 mins before anyone came to see us. We tried all this time to order drinks and failed and then a rushed but very polite waiter wanted just our food order.
The next issue was they totally forgot one of the mains (octopus) so by the time it arrived the rest do the table had finished their lunch. They weren’t overly concerned and also didn’t offer a discount at the end which would be appropriate. Nor did they suggest we didn’t pay the service charge.
We had wanted to order more drinks a few times but all decided not to owing to the poor service and delay. So ultimately restaurant lost a lot of revenue as between 5 people on a long lunch we would usually have got through three bottle of wine! Instead, we decided to pay and leave and go next door to Sal and have cocktails there!
I would return, yes, and the beach menu looks more in keeping with a lighter and cheaper lunch. The location is great and the staff are also very good but clearly too rushed and both miss details but also opportunity to serve and therefore increase revenue for the company, and as a business owner myself, this would deeply worry me.
Food is good if expensive, but management is a concern and leaves...
