WOW! First visit and I'm super impressed! First, I just moved here and this place is dangerously across the street from my apartment. Second, Amorizade has sort of odd, limited hours so check before heading over. Third, NO FREAKIN' idea why this place is not jam packed every night they are open. Although, it is off the beaten path of Lagos proper, it's literally a 5 minute Uber ride from town or a lovely 30 minute walk. This is absolutely THE hidden gem of all hidden gems in the area IMO.
The owners are French, Melanie and Adrien. On my visit Melanie was the sole server for this small place (maybe 8 tables inside) and Adrien was cooking along with a couple others I saw in the open kitchen. The place has a cute wraparound balcony outdoor space as well which was not open - winter.
Sooooo, onto the best stuff. Melanie asked if I had any menu questions - the night I visited there was a choice of 3 or 4 starters and 3 entrees (a beef, a fish and a vegetarian) and a handful of dessert options. And the wine list has a bit of everything anyone could want. My question - since I live across the street, 'if I order a bottle of wine, can I just walk any leftovers across the street'? A resounding, 'yes, of course' and I had my bottle of wine. They do have wines by the glass but a limited selection.
I started with a bread and olives plate which had fantastic butter. And then chose the 17euro fresh cod entree with an amazing crust topping over mashed potatoes with zucchini ribbons. And the SAUCE! OMG - it was delicate, didn't overpower the fish at all but complimented it nicely with capers, fresh dill and a drizzle of parsley oil. You KNOW I used some bread to mop up that sauce!
Finally dessert - a simple creme brulee, done perfectly creamy/dreamy and freshly crunchified on top. ;)
When I was leaving, I popped over to the kitchen to thank Chef Adrien for the fabulous meal. I gushed over how good my meal was, particularly the sauce. I told him 'I could take a bath in that amazing sauce!' At first he wasn't sure how to react or exactly my meaning but he then laughed, blushed and said he was so glad I enjoyed it.
I will be back more times than is good for me but...
Read moreMy sister in law and her husband share a birthday and she booked this place to celebrate. She emailed them but didn't hear back so telephoned to confirm. They confirmed they had her email and now her phone number. That evening we arrived to find a sign saying the restaurant was closed due to technical problems but it would be open the following day there was a large amount of water outside suggesting a leak. Disappointed that with her email and telephone number they didn't feel the need to call. My sister in law emailed them to see if they could fit us in the following night. There was no reply. For all I know this may be the best restaurant in Lagos but with this level of communication I will never know. Very poor...

There is an open kitchen were you can have a look at your food. The waiters are very friendly, experienced and can speak excellent english. It was a gorgeous...
