One of, if not, the worst dining experience I had in my Azores trip of 5 islands.

Waited 1 hour for deep fried prawns and fries with a side of salad. Understand there was a big group of 10 people ahead of us who also waited but for such a meal and with 3-4 kitchen staff, it seems excessive.

Also a person who looked like the proprietor of the establishment was very rude. With other customers who were Caucasian (Portuguese speaking or otherwise) he was very friendly… he personally served the people in the big group despite it being self service. What shocked me was when we accidentally left a bag on our table as we were exiting the restaurant, he rudely grunted to get our attention and gestured with his head that we left the bag.

Views from this place is amazing but the experience at the diner that day left us cold, damp (like the weather that day) and vowing...

Most of the seating is outside, where you can enjoy the ocean view and the breeze. The actual restaurant appears to be an enclosed food truck with some flower murals, pictures, and other decor that makes this place feel well-loved by the locals. The food was good, well priced, and a lifesaver when the other main restaurants were either closed or full. There's a part timer who was pleasant and spoke good English, but if you go during the downtime, you may need to point and talk, or keep your order simple. There's a menu on the wall you can refer to, which has both Portuguese and English. Well worth the visit, and I was truly grateful for this place after a long hike on an empty stomach....

The staff wasn’t friendly at all… first time being there we just wanted to ask if it’s free to camp on the campsite right next to it.. it is free but the woman in the kitchen told us that we would have to eat and drink at their place because they Tele care of the bathrooms. So we did.. toilets are disgusting and dirty. You can drink the tab water almost anywhere on the island but there it tastes like poolwater. Burger was ok but the „steak“ is just a slab of pork and that’s not what a steak should be. The man serving us didn’t speak English at all and and made fun of us in front of the locals..

But the view is great and there is a place to...

Food is made with love and sweat! They get quite overwhelmed with requests during the summer so its normal that the food might take a bit to be ready. 200% recomend the Home made Brownie with a ball of Salty Caramel Ice Cream! Also the "Special Burger" and the Soup are very good! For all that decid to try it, you can tell your friends that its the westernmost establishment in Europe :) Also theres 2 beautifull cats around, they're almost big as tigers

Delicious food for a great price by the ocean. It's a small simple place with great local food. No reservation needed. Great view of the sunset right outside. Order at the bar, they give you a pager that beeps when food is ready to be picked up. Bring your plates back when you're done. (just a couple steps) We had the francesinha and the bifana, big beer and a coke all for 24 euro. They take card payment.
