We planned to eat lunch here today as the rating was high on here. However, we ended up leaving due to our experience with the very rude staff member. We arrived and sat down at a table on the terrace which seemed quite nice. However, did not receive any menus so went to the counter to try to order and see a menu. We waited in line and tried to order, however, after speaking to the staff member and asking for information about the options, we were not provided any information. The staff member seemed confused that I asked for information about the fish of the day (the menu says that price is on request). He proceeded to ignore us and look at his phone and then serve the people behind us. We were slightly confused about what was happening, and then he abruptly told us he would bring us menus to the table when he had time. We sat down, but were not brought any menus so decided to leave. I’ve now seen a few reviews similar to our experience - it seems this place used to be better but has gone downhill due to the...
Read moreWhat a delightful and refreshing dining experience! Truly elevated and smartly composed small plates that were incredibly delicious and very reasonably priced. They even have IPA beer on tap! I enjoyed the background music during the meal too, as I have noticed background music at restaurants is uncommon here in the Azores. I was told that the chef is a young guy trained in Lisbon and is bringing fresh ideas to the Azorean cuisine using locally sourced ingredients when possible. Double check their Facebook page but right now they have live music on Saturdays. On Sundays they serve francesinhas, and they're always producing new and creative specials of the day. I cannot recommend them highly enough. The place has a great feel and the owner has a lot to be proud of, including his staff. I look forward to coming back and bringing friends and family here as my husband and I just moved...
Read moreBest place to eat in Lages do Pico and one of the best in the entire island. The service is kind (specially at lunch) and the food is fresh and delicious. Quality/price won’t get better than dish. All the sandwiches are perfect but avoid the pitas. The daily menu is 9,5€. The food is well served, but if you’re not that hungry, go for the carne assada or prego taberna. You won’t regret. Hopefully, soon they will also serve the Azores squid in the menu (the Azores squid is huge. If you get small squids, they are not fresh). They also have a garden with a view for the Pico Mountain where you can eat. Beautiful. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
PS: they have a new female waitress (Barbara), which is below the standard when it comes to service and kindness but hopefully, that will...
