Affair Restaurante & Bar — Restaurant in Lisbon

Where do I start with this restaurant? Food, service, ambience? How about all of the above? We tried to get into this restaurant back in June when we were in Lisbon on the end of our trip from Italy. We didn’t know we have to make reservation way in advance and ended up not able to have dinner at Affair. Lesson learned! We booked our trip back to Lisbon for November and I made sure to make the reservation here. I booked the table about a month before our arrival and received my confirmation on the same day. I was beyond thrilled. Back to the night of our dinner. We arrived about the same time as they are opening for dinner (7pm) and was warmly welcome to our table. We ordered cheese, Caprese salad and bread for apps. The melted cheese along with honey on bread provided a balance of salty and sweet, with the soft texture along with the walnut crunch gives you the perfect bite. The salad with the pesto sauce was also tasty. For entree, we ordered squid ink pasta, grill pork and shrimp plate, steak and cod to share for my family of 5. We ATE everything because they were so good. The highlight of the dinner in my opinion were squid ink pasta and the grill pork and shrimp plate. Although the Cod and steak were equally as fantastic. The pasta was perfectly cook and the seafood were a great compliment to the dish. The grilled pork had a distinct flavor from the grill and the marinate was on point. Each bite was full of flavor. The shrimp was perfectly grill and if you like the head, the flavor literally explodes in your mouth. A++. This restaurant is run by a husband and wife team, perfect compliment of food and service. I am so glad we had a chance to dine at affair and will definitely return the next time we are in Lisbon. One of our best meal during our time in Lisbon....

First of all: Go there and you won't regret it! We had a great overall experience there. The staff is very friendly and they really care, that their guests have a nice evening. The waiter even asked for the degree of doneness for the burger or if we wanted ice or lemon in our drinks. They had menus in different languages, which helped a lot choosing what to eat. We took two burgers, one with beef and one vegan. While you are waiting for your food, you can watch them cook. The kitchen is open, clean and they prepare everything fresh for you. They even cut the potatoes for the fries just before they need them. The burgers looked great and tasted amazing. For me the vegan burger was the best I've ever had im my life (and there were a lot)! The waiter brought us homemade piripiri-sauce which was also very flavourful. Also he was really interested in our opinion about the food. Thanks a lot for a great last evening in Portugal! Last but not least: The toilet was the most clean one we saw im two weeks in...

Delicious food at a very reasonable price, especially considering the more than fair portions. I’ve never tasted such decadent grilled pork — crispy yet tender, and so damn flavorful. The seafood pasta dish with basil was fantastic, beautifully balanced. The Conquistador Burger will certainly conquer you — you’ve been warned!

The owner Carlos delivers so much friendly passion and clear care and talent for his craft, it adds a whole other layer to the experience of mouthwatering smells wafting from the open kitchen. I had the pleasure of getting to know him a bit after my first meal there, and the moment I walked in for Round 2, he greeted me with a friendly smile and handshake, tacitly saying: welcome back home, you know the drill. (We had an interesting discussion about substitutions the first time — trust that he’s masterfully tuned each dish to perfection! I didn’t even ask for chili flakes for the pasta.)

I’ll continue to enjoy excellent meals here in the future....
