O Grilo Beato — Restaurant in Lisbon

I got lost and stumbled upon this absolute gem. I've just recently moved into Marvila and was wondering around the area when I found O Grilo Beato, I walked in and was greeted by the pug Jawa, Bruno and Daphné. They made me feel welcome instantly. I was struck by the aesthetic of the restaurant, it's beautiful and homey at the same time. Daphné has created an oasis, her strong vision of farm to table is evident in her ever changing menu, I have always loved small menus and she does it in such a way that there's something for everyone (veg, vegan all are catered for). I've since been to one of their gig nights, they have brilliant musicians come in and the evening is magic. I went alone and instantly was adopted by an amazing group of people and we all danced so much it felt for a moment that I was transported to Cuba. There's a million things I have to say about this restaurant, mostly it's a BIG thank you. Daphné has adopted me and taught me so much, I now volunteer at her beautiful garden and get to hang out with her goat Cigano, yes it sounds like a fairytale! Wonderful place with a farm-to-table concept. All the ingredients are fresh and the menu changes daily. Lots of options for those with dietary restrictions and great wine! My personal favorites are the vegan dahl and the tomato soup – both are absolutely delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very cozy – perfect for lunch or a proper dinner date.
