Estrela do Mar — Restaurant in Marinha Grande

We had dinner at this restaurant and the experience was totally awful: The restaurant is crowded and very noisy. No issue here as it is a family and tourist place. Staff is not friendly at all. They brought the wrong order to our table three times! We ordered a sea food plate with three types of food: o Fried shrimps, that were overcooked in too much olive olive. o Crab (sapateira in Portuguese) which consisted in some of the inner meat of the crab swimming in mayonnaise. Where were the crab’s tongs and legs? No answer from the staff! o Last but not least: barnacles, that should be very tasty, but they were not, they weren’t even salted! A great restaurant and cocktail bar right on the sea front with outdoor and indoor seating. We were lucky enough to get a table overlooking the sea and watched the sun set with a lovely glass of Portuguese wine as recommended by our waiter. All the waiters were really friendly, one guy had particularly good English and helped us practice our Portuguese as well as translating anything on the menu that we struggled with. I really recommend the meat (and prawn) mixed grill for 2, cooked at the table on a hot stone it was fantastic, or the kebab sticks...

I've been coming to this restaurant every summer for years. The food used to be very good. This July we took some friends there. The service is good but the food has gone downhill. Do not eat the crab shell. It has mostly canned tuna in it mixed with a horrible ready made mayonnaise. The grilled octopus was very good.
