Praia de Mira is an old fishing village on the coast of Portugal, with a history that stretches back centuries. The town has a rustic charm, with traditional wooden houses known as "palheiros," which were originally built to store fishing gear. Over the years, Praia de Mira has developed into a modest seaside destination, known for its wide sandy beaches and strong waves, attracting some surfers and beachgoers.
Despite its natural beauty, Praia de Mira shows signs of neglect. Many of the buildings and public areas appear worn and in need of maintenance. Read morePraia de Mira is a good place to spend great holidays in family during the summer season. Recently the beach had "blue flag" for 30 years in a row meaning the environmental conditions of the beach are exceptional. However, the water temperature is a bit cold and if you don't know the sea so well is important to take care while swimming. You also have life guards in all the allowed place to swim. There's a lot of places to camp, there are new wood summer houses, places for a barbacue, bars, supermarkets, restaurants to eat awesome fish meals such as "Mar Azul" where I advice you to eat "pitau de raia" and "arroz de marisco" and "Gaúcha" where you must try "Bacalhau à Gaúcha" meal. You can rent a bicycle and ride through the forest for a long distance. I advice you to go by bicycle from "Casal de São Tomé" pass in "Lagoa de Mira" to see the mills and enjoy a coffee in "Sítio do Cartaxo", then go all the way to the beach and pass in "Clube Náutico bar"....

Also found a café not far from the statue (down the road on the right) that has got pastries...
