Pizzeria il Padrino — Restaurant in Odemira

Every time I go near S. Teotónio, I plan things around dinning in this place. I really enjoy having pizza here, not only because they are authentic and very appetizing, but I find it curious that an Italian decided settle and open a thriving business in a small town so far away from a big city.

When you enter, the first thing you´ll notice is the owner assemebling pizzas in back of the room, in front of a traditional wood oven. Then you'll notice a lot of locals having dinner there, which usually means you've come to the right place.

Has a cozy ambience and the service is usually fast. I enjoy watching the skillful chef working it's craft quiety and meticulously, while keeping an eye in the room.

The secret of Il Padrino pizzas? Not only the dough, which is thin, soft and not dry at all, but also the sauce and toppings, which I'm guessing they use local produce, and are cooked to perfection.

I'm also nuts about the vinagrette sauce they use to season the salads, and the tiramisu, the tastyest...

Für mich hier kam gleich zu Beginn eine unerwartete, jedoch absolut positive Überraschung bei meiner Vorspeise. Ich hatte einen Thunfischsalat, der mit einer köstlichen echten Vinaigrette angemacht war. Die Zutaten auf dem Tisch, um selbst ein Dressing anzumachen wurden überhaupt nicht benötigt. Vor einem Jahr hatte ich verschiedene Pizze probiert und die waren damals gut, denn es kochte noch der Vater. Inzwischen hat die Tochter voll übernommen und die Qualität der Pizze hat abgenommen. Es fehlte an Oregano, damit die Pizza überhaupt nach Pizza schmeckt und bei meiner Quadro-Staggioni, die andernorts eigentlich eine Capriciosa ist, waren die Zutaten wild zusammengehäuft und überhaupt nicht ansehnlich angeordnet, quasi ein wirres Durcheinander. Dieses Problem wird man mit Pizze mit weniger Zutaten nict haben, aber der fehlende Oregano wiegt schwer. Dort ist man leider auf maximal mögliche Anzahl Tische ausgerichtet und wenig ansprechend. Ein paar Grünpflanzen oder Raumteiler, um Nischen zu erzeugen, wären nett gewesen. Die vielen Lichtquellen verteilten das Licht eher weitläufig und nicht speziell auf die Tische ausgerichtet. Das ließ den Raum etwas steril und weniger heimelig wirken. Ich kann hier nur eine Empfehlung für die reichhaltigen Salate mit leckerem Dressing...

Fiz um pedido para take-away e quando fui buscar à hora que me indicaram, não só não estava pronto como nem o tinham começado a fazer. Ao ver o cozinheiro (e dono) parado e quase a dormir em pé sem trabalho... perguntei a uma das funcionárias se ainda demorava (passavam já 10min da hora) e foi então que o cozinheiro e dono lhe respondeu que se tínhamos pressa podíamos ir embora. O meu marido ouviu e quando perguntámos se era para irmos... uma vez que o havia dito e pelos vistos não nos queriam atender... os ânimos exaltaram-se nesta conversa e o dono levantou o dedo para a cara do meu marido a dizer que na casa dele era ele que mandava e que aqui em Portugal os Portugueses eram assim e assado (isto porque o meu marido é Brasileiro). Como Portuguesa senti vergonha alheia por estas atitudes... pedi o livro de reclamações e enquanto escrevia o dono lá se dignou a colocar as pizzas no forno (passavam já quase 40min da hora de entrega do pedido...) e fui-me embora sem a comida e com a certeza de que más pessoas como este senhor não merecem ter um negócio aberto ao público, independentemente da comida ser boa (pelo que dizem na maioria dos testemunhos que vi antes de encomendar o nosso pedido neste restaurante...). Não recomendo este...
