Being born in Luanda Angola, when I found out about the restaurant, it was a must for me to try but I recommend to anyone looking for authentic Portuguese cuisine at very reasonable prices. Our bill was $50 euros for three adults including drinks (full botyle of wine), dessert and coffee and the portions won't disappoint. Located in Alges area of Lisboa, the restaurant was an easy stroll from our rented condo. It had good hours even for us North Americans who like to eat a little earlier and only one step to enter making it easily accessible. When you see locals coming in for takeout as well coming in and eating with family and friends, you know it's going to be good. Service was excellent, great selection of food from meat to seafood on the menu and even though they only had the menu in Portuguese, our server was excellent translating, answering any of our questions and explaining all dishes. Like many other family run restaurants in Lisboa, there are specific dishes only available on certain days with daily specials also on the menu. As you can understand, good, homemade traditional cooking and dishes need to be prepped in advance unless you can wait 2 or 3 hrs for your dinner for them to make it fresh at that time. The only thing that disappointed us was that we only at at the restaurant once during our stay in Alges and I missed the chicken Mumba day which is Thursdays. Loved the restaurant and ambience and can't wait to eat here again when I return to Lisboa even if I stay in another area...
Read moreI recommend this restaurant to everyone, especially to tourists who arrive in Alges because that way they will have the opportunity to eat and spend time in a pleasant and authentic Portuguese atmosphere with a staff more than both. The owner is an elderly Portuguese man who knows how to make the customers really happy, and the prices are very low compared to the food that is served in extremely large portions. When I first ordered the "vittela barrosa" (I ordered 3 portions) it came with two pots telling us that those were the portions, you'll realize that they were extremely large. It was a pleasant experience in all 4 series in which I ate there and I recommend it to everyone once again. PS: The tuna steak is also very good, but you must...
Read moreHospitality was brilliant, the waiters first language wasn't English so he did his best. Unfortunately the chips weren't chips they were more like thick crisps but other than that the food was wonderful, the pichanha was stunning !!
We ate the bread and samosas that were brought the the table which we thought were complimentary as we didn't ask, but turns out they weren't. We were charged for quite a few things we didn't ask for which normally are included as a starter for a meal..
Oh and my son didn't finish his food so we requested to take it away. There is also a takeaway box charge....
