Always wonderful food, and very friendly, professional staff. We've eaten here many times, and never have we had any food that wasn't fresh, cooked perfectly, and served by staff who are welcoming. The waiters often help us practice our Portuguese as we learn. You can't go wrong with any fish they serve, and if you are able to get And don't forget to save room for dessert-- especially if the chocolate cake is fresh out of the oven!
Seating is a bit fun and family style with long wood tables and benches, so you if you're a party of two, you may get to make some new friends at your table. If you're going in the summer, make reservations as they fill up fast.
This is also a local place to hang out, drink a beer or espresso, and watch the game. Be forewarned, if there's a soccer game, and the favorite team is winning, the celebrations can get a bit loud---but always in good spirits.
Parking can be a bit tricky, as it's on the street, and the streets here are a bit narrow if you're not used to roads in the Azores, but it's well worth it. And when you're done, drive down the little side street to the round-about for the overlook...

The friendly waiter asked us if we were fine waiting outside for a maximum of 30 mins and he'd give us the next free table. Done deal. I asked whether I could take two beers outside - sure, no problem. Asked whether I should pay for those in advance - certainly not, just pay them with the dinner at the end - great!
We waited for less than 10 minutes and the song-humming waiter hummed us inside. Service was fast, attentive and always with some joking around - it was great to have some funny and casual conversation along the way. We ordered a soup to start with and the fish plate for two + white wine - both did not disappoint. The fish plate was massive, but also very good, so we left rather stuffed with (unfortunately) no room for desert (which I would've loved to try - they had Creme Brulee!). After some more conversation around paying the bill at the end, we were invited to leave our names on a free spot on the wall inside - great ending to a...
Read moreI booked here after seeing great reviews for my husband’s birthday. I was expecting good things but it even surpassed our expectations. We were greeted by really friendly staff and promptly offered menus. My husband chose the sirloin steak and I had fish of the day. My goodness! Do not eat anything the day you go, as the portions are generous and you won’t want to leave a mouthful! Their chef is a genius combining flavours you wouldn’t think of, but it is all sublime. To top it all they surprised my husband with a cake and the whole restaurant sang to him. What a place! We can’t wait to go back again. Make sure you definitely book as we saw a few people turned away as this restaurant is obviously popular - and with good reason! If I could give ten stars out of...
