Struggling with this review because the setting is beautiful (right on the beach), the menu is simple, but delicious. The staff were friendly albeit tired as it had been so busy and it was really good value. The toilets however were disgusting. I'm shocked how multiple customers must have missed the hole or get some perverse pleasure out of making it worse, but ultimately the restaurant owner needs to address the cleanliness and make it better. I chose this place because of the positive reviews, but the experience was disappointing. The staff didn’t care that I was sitting and waiting for the menu, which became tiring. The waitresses walked past without noticing me, and nobody greeted me. I ordered lapas and garlic bread. We came here almost every night during our stay on Madeira. Service is very friendly and exceptional — especially love the lady with the short greyish hair and the young guy who have made our experience a great one. The ponchas are delicious, we even got to try their new prototype passion fruit caipirinha. The horse mackerel, shrimp and limpets are fantastic — the sauce is a dream to dip your Bolo do Caco in.
