My wife and I have been to many Indian restaurants and in fact, this is one of the best I have ever been but I have some things to point out here, not in a negative way but in a constructive way. The plating is fantastic and they serve the food very well. The level of spiciness could be revalidated because when ordering with spicy it does not have the spiciness that is expected. Regarding the space, they could make the space more appealing and with more Indian decoration. Put Indian songs, not the ones we hear when we go to the barber but traditional Indian songs without a voice. Only the instrumental. This would make us travel while we were wearing out the Indian flavours in our mouths. The space can be more exquisite. Otherwise, everything is very good. I love the staff and the owners...

In all fairness... this place is absolutely fantastic! It's a rare find to discover an Indian restaurant in regional Portugal that serves spicy (yes, really spicy) dishes.

The naans were delicate and crisp - the Lamb Bhuna was an absolute standout - the meat was tender and succulent & the Karahi Paneer just made you want to have more!

And heavens, the desserts! The kulfi was extraordinary, & rich with cardamom. The gulab jamun was perfectly sweet, and the mango cream was intensely flavored.

Finally, and most noteworthy, the service and staff were exceptional, providing attentive and sincerely friendly service that made us feel incredibly welcome - thank you.

Als je denkt dat je alle culinaire verrassingen hebt meegemaakt, wacht dan tot je Maharaja's Delight in het charmante stadje Aljezur ontdekt. Dit pareltje van een Indiaas restaurant is een waar feest voor de zintuigen, en dat begint al bij aankomst. Parkeren? Een eitje! Geen gedoe met zoeken naar een plekje – het is net alsof ze speciaal voor jou een koninklijk ontvangst hebben voorbereid.

Bij binnenkomst word je begroet door het vriendelijkste personeel dat je je kunt voorstellen. Hun glimlach is oprecht, hun houding warm en gastvrij. Het voelt alsof je in een Indiase oase van rust en comfort bent beland, ver weg van de dagelijkse beslommeringen.

Dan komt het eten. De saag paneer is een goddelijke creatie, waarbij elke hap je meeneemt op een smaakvolle reis door de Indiase keuken. De zachte spinazie, perfect gekruid, omhult de zijdezachte paneer op een manier die simpelweg hemels is.

Maar wacht, het wordt nog beter. De butter paneer is een absolute droom. De romige saus, zo verfijnd en vol van smaak, is de perfecte begeleider voor de zachte stukjes paneer. Het gerecht smelt letterlijk in je mond en laat je verlangen naar meer, zelfs als je buik al vol is.

En dan, als kers op de taart, zijn er de naambordjes. Je denkt misschien dat naambordjes slechts een bijzaak zijn, maar niet hier. Ze zijn subliem! Met een knapperige buitenkant en een zachte, luchtige binnenkant, zijn ze het ideale middel om elke druppel van de verrukkelijke saus op te vangen. Elk bordje is als een klein kunstwerk, een knipoog naar de rijke Indiase cultuur en traditie.

Maharaja's Delight is niet zomaar een restaurant – het is een culinaire ervaring die je niet mag missen. Van het gemakkelijke parkeren en het ongelooflijk vriendelijke personeel tot de meesterlijk bereide gerechten en de sublieme naambordjes, alles aan dit restaurant roept uitmuntendheid.
