Restaurante "Rainha do Bife" — Restaurant in Santa Cruz das Flores

I was unable to dine here, had an overall negative experience. I wanted to have dinner here but walked into a bar area. It appeared that the dining room was next door and I believe the dinner service had not started yet. The bartender and bar patrons seemed to all be local but made me feel very uncomfortable. I speak only a little bit of Portuguese, but the body language spoke for itself. I asked to see a menu, which I was provided. We ordered drinks at the bar and sat on the patio to enjoy them. The drinks were poured and then the bartender said we had to return the menu. It was confusing and I already was so uncomfortable that I just drank the sangria (which was not even good) and left. Surprisingly excellent experience. Well worth 5 star in my opinion. And I'm really picky with food... So food was very tasty, especially the traditional to Azores Lapas as starter. Must try here!! Service was another proof that you should give a chance to not so good previous reviews as things might change. We were so pleased to have an excellent service. Very polite staff that gave us a lot of care and attention. Explain the menu and offered alternatives.. Even had a chance to speak to the chef that explained menu choices in detail. Por la tarde habíamos tomado café (muy rico) en este sitio y decidimos reservar para nuestro grupo de 5 personas para cenar aquí, precisamente porque tenía una carta muy variada, tanto de carne como de pescado. Para nuestra (desagradable) sorpresa, una vez sentados a la mesa, nos dan la carta, donde la variedad sigue siendo igual de amplia pero, sin embargo, la señora q nos atiende, nos dice q lo primero a decidir son los entrantes y que los principales los pediríamos después (lo cierto es q nos vimos obligados a seguir este orden). Pero la verdadera sorpresa vino después, ya q de lo q ponía en la carta NO HABÍA NADA. Por ej., de porko solo nos ofreció costillas a la brasa, de peixe, solo nos ofreció abrotoa o vieja, pero mirad lo q ofrecían en la carta q tienen en la calle y q es igual a la q nos ofrecieron dentro (ver foto aunq no es muy nítida). Con la bebida parecido, no tenían Coca Cola cero, tampoco servían una copa de vino blanco pues tenía q ser botella pequeña o grande…. En ningún momento sabías el precio por adelantado, ya q lo ofrecido no figuraba en la carta … El precio total fue de 100€ para 4 personas, pues una de las personas decidió no pedir nada en vista de la realidad. Lo finalmente consumido fue: 2 sopas, 1 entrante de aceitunas, una costilla de cerdo a la parrilla acompañada de tomate natural y patatas fritas, 2 abrotoa y 1 vieja a la parrilla, acompañados de tomate natural y arroz (el tomate nos lo cobraron aparte) El pescado estaba relativamente comible, pero la carne estaba intragable Sabíamos q el local era modesto y sin pretensiones, pero al q acudía personal local, en su mayoría, pero esto no debería ser motivo para engañar al personal.
