A Hidden Gem of Madeira – Outstanding Food and Unforgettable Atmosphere Arraial do Ribeiro Frio pleasantly surprised us in every way. Generous portions at very fair prices, and the food was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious – one of the best culinary experiences we've had in Madeira.

The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and attentive – they happily explained each dish in detail, gave excellent recommendations, and spoke very good English, which is a big plus for international visitors.

The restaurant is set in a peaceful location beneath the forest, right by the road, with parking available directly next to it. It’s the perfect stop for hikers, as it's located near the PR10 and PR11 trails. You can enjoy your meal outdoors in the fresh air or indoors with a beautiful view over the valley.

The entire village of Ribeiro Frio carries the irresistible aroma from this restaurant – the meat is prepared traditionally over wood fire, giving it a unique and unforgettable flavor. Honestly, the smell led us straight to the table – our noses chose for us. As the saying goes, the senses are the best sellers.

The menu offers traditional Portuguese cuisine and local specialties, but also includes more familiar dishes for those who prefer something classic.
