Ribeiro Frio Restaurant — Restaurant in Santana

Not sure if we were just super unlucky but our experience was nothing as promised. The service was lackluster to say the least- the waiter had trouble understanding our order and many of the side dishes wouldn't have came if we hadn't asked for them(after waiting for a long while).

I'm still not sure whether we got everything we ordered or not, since for our three fish dishes there was only one plate of potatoes- I suppose that included for all three meals. And if that's the case, I think that 4 medium sized potatoes for three whole meals isn't sufficient, especially taking into account the almost 20€ price.

We were seated outside, and perhaps because of it we felt like we were forgotten. No waiter ever approached us after having taken our order, there were no sauce packets on the tables and no napkins whatsoever. It seemed like inside people were treated much better.

The espada fish with maracujá sauce was okay(if it wasn't for the potato fiasko).

The normal hamburger only includes the buns and a patty-nothing else, no tomato or anything.

The fries were tasteless and had an odd texture-not sure what was going on with them.

The toilets were bad- don't even bother going. The light doesn't work and there's no toilet paper nor soap.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend. I hope our experience was just an unlucky mishap, but for it's price we really should've...

If Ribeiro is frio, the welcome at this restaurant was freezing. The place is nice, interesting with antiques, food is good but not a smile from any of the 4 people who served us. They don't have to try to please customers because their location is everything. They get a captive clientele who do the walk and end up there. We laughed about it but after a lovely week with such friendly people on the island this was a disappointment. A smile costs nothing. We smiled, were happy (even if wet from the rain) and tried a little Portuguese language. These people don't deserve...

A nice place, but too touristic. Trout is 14 euro per one, which is very expensive. Other prices are nice. Don’t recommend you to order trout with herbs, if you want to taste a pure trout, simply grilled (with head). Trout was tasty, coffee as well! Didn’t like the fact, that when we asked where is this trout from, a lady from the restaurant couldn’t give us a fully answer, saying just no. But if the trout is not from the local farm across the street, then I would not recommend this place at all. Since, it’s ridiculous. Hope, she just didn’t understand...
