I recently had the pleasure of dining at Faísca in Ribeiro Frio, Madeira, and it was an experience I won’t soon forget!
From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for the evening. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our server made excellent recommendations, and their genuine passion for Portuguese cuisine truly shone through.

The T-bone steak was a true masterpiece—grilled to perfection, tender, and bursting with flavor. It was served with perfectly seasoned sides that complemented the dish wonderfully. The grilled trout with bacon was another standout, combining the delicate taste of fresh fish with the smoky richness of crispy bacon, a combination that worked beautifully.

Read moreWaiting 40 min for burned fish. We ordered a mixed fish plate (Salomon Filet, Trout Filet and a Swordfish Filet) and a Grilled Troutfish. What we got after 40 min of waiting was a Burned Salomon Filet, a in greace swimming and dead cooked Swordfish Filet, a grilled octopus arm(idk why) and a burned trout. We asked the manager about the missing fish and the grilled octupusarm, he first tryed to tell us that it would be normal, we then showed him his own card to got a explaination if the card would be wrong or him. Instead of an answer we walked away without a word. No apologise nothing. After the meal we obtained the bill an there was an other problem. They booked us not only the mixed fishplate and our 2 drinks, they booked 2 juices and 1 bread (an entrance menu) that we nether ordered or obtained.
We saw a lot of tourist eating just a sandwich there, so I guess its ok for having Sandwich (dont forget to check the bill) but other ways I would not recommand it to have...
Read moreWe had the best meal in Medeira here! It's a family run restaurant and food is made with best quality products, care and love. Poncha was as it should be - strong, so it goes right in your head. If you want a truly unique experience of local food and drinks, that is the best place to go. We had bread soup and tomato soup (tomato soup is their speciality, truly delicious!), octopus and grilled fish and selection of deserts. Service was very attentive and warm. Avelino truly cares about giving the best experience. Highly recommend to book the table in advance as it is next to one of busy...
