It is always good to know that new places are opening regularly in Seixal and that some of them are good surprises.
With a concept mainly based on tapas this place gives more strength to the idea that simple is better!
Included inside the complex of Quinta da Fidalga the restaurant is a well hidden surprise. But they should prevent the impact of being well hidden by investing in more communication to the public.
With a comfortable environment and a trendy decoration it is pleasent to get inside and look into all the details. You will also have the option to stay in the outdoor space that in summer days assumes a positive advantage to the place.
The staff is friendly and efficient, altough it needs to learn how to manage with the kitchen the rhythm of putting food on the table. It was too fast and too crowded at a certain point...so crowded that the table space was not enough...and it was not that many plates...
The food has an amazing taste and a nice presentation, combining a traditional side of doing tapas with some modern aproaches in some details like the sauces or some of the used ingridients. A note for the good variety of wines, altough not extensive they present good options.
The one completely negative point are the deserts...please please please kill your desert strategy!! A place like this deserves the same level of preparation of deserts that the client can find in your plates! And not pre made and tasteless deserts like the one's tasted...
In summary it is place full of potential and quality to become a reference in the Tapas league if...and only if the deserts follow the same direction...or else the client will leave with the feeling that something is missing and no cherry was placed on the top...
Read moreLocated inside an antique Estate that is now owned by the Municipality, this cozy Restaurant offers a varied menu of Tapas, Beers, Wine and Liquor. I rather enjoy the braised tuna, the strips seared steak, Padron peppers and boards of cheese and deli meat - plus my kids love the traditional fries. There's a good selection of specialty beers from Estrella (there's even a Gluten free beer sold here which is super rare in Seixal and one very noteworthy item on the menu), a good list of Portuguese wine some of which you can order by the glass. It's got interior and exterior seating areas - usually only the exterior is available outside meal hours where you can have only drinks or still order from the list, which is very useful if you're not one to stick to specific times for meals. The ambience is very relaxed, with a cozy decor inside, comfortable lighting and friendly staff. The restaurant is kid friendly, has child seats for toddlers and a kids menu with burgers and fries. The outside seating area overlooks the Estate's garden which is very well kept and its a public place so you can roam around it and kids can play freely. This place is frequently crowded, so DO make a...
Read moreRestaurante at the edge of the water at Rio Judeu in Seixal. I had their signature hamburger while my spouse ordered some tapas (small dishes) of eggs prepared different ways. We generally stay away from the usual French fries but I noticed that one of the group was served "home fries" with herbs on top, and it looked good. Someone else ordered some "sliders" or miniature burgers; they also looked yummy. The setting for us was the garden area of what had been a large house and service buildings. The restaurant is located in one of the service buildings next to the garden, and our outdoor eating area was delightful in the late afternoon and early evening. Staff was quite helpful and friendly, though a bit slow. The result was that our meals arrived one-at-a-time, mine being last of all. The conversation was quite nice, however, and when we exited the wall around the grounds to the street we were treated to a rosy - pink late sunset over...
