Wonderful views of the lagoon, from almost every table in the restaurant. Fantastic location. If the weather is cloudy or cool, eating is mostly indoor although the outside tables have the best views.

Arrive early or late but not in the middle of the meal service as they are not set up for quick service.

We thought we were quite early at around 13:15 and had to wait around 1 hour and 15 minutes for our main meal. We had been so hungry that we had fed ourselves bread and olives and so some of us could not eat the main meal and had to ask them to pack it up for us.

We ordered mains only but one meal arrived early a a starter and the person ate alone.

The clams (ameijoas à bulhão pato) in white wine and garlic, were good but not the best we have eaten. The size of the clams was excellent.

The bitoques (yes, some meat eaters in a fish and seafood restaurant) were tasty but portions on the small side.

The arroz de marisco was the cause of the delay, but a very good portion for two people. Rice was moist and tasty, a mix of crab, prawns, mussels and clams, decent amounts. The crucial let-down is I am a stickler for properly deveined prawns and most were not cleaned as per the vein I extracted from one. a total turn'off and spoiled the meal after such a long wait.

The restaurant apologised for the various errors but we would have referred advance warning as we lost time and could not do everything we planned to do that day.

Overall, a below average experience that was only offset by...

O Lagoeiro – Beautiful View, Disappointing Everything Else ★☆☆☆☆

O Lagoeiro has a stunning views — and unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.

The service was painfully slow. We waited well over an hour for our meal, with no warning that it would take that long. When it finally arrived, we wished it hadn’t.

We started by sitting outside in the front, but it was chilly, so we moved about ten feet into the sunshine. That simple shift apparently broke some unspoken rule: we were told we couldn’t sit there, not because it was reserved, but because it would be “harder to serve.” We ended up moving indoors for the rest of the meal, which did little to improve the experience.

One of us had the mussels, which were actually quite good — the only redeeming dish of the afternoon. The other two of us shared a double order of the mixed fish, which turned out to be a mistake. The fish was bony, bland, and tasted like the kitchen’s leftovers. The broth was thin, had few vegetables, and no real flavor.

We skipped dessert and coffee and went elsewhere, hoping to salvage the afternoon. After we politely mentioned our disappointment, they took a few euros off the bill — a nice gesture, but it still felt like a lot of money for very little value.

In the end, O Lagoeiro perfectly proves my long-standing theorem: it’s almost impossible to find a restaurant that offers both a great view and a great meal. This one...

The only thing I liked about this place is amazing view. Service is very poor. Two times we were just to leave, when the waiter came to us (first time brought a menu and second one took our order). He said it takes 10-15min to cook our clams. We waited about 40min expecting amazing seafood dishes but it was 3/10. I think this place will be good to meet sunset with a bottle of beer and a couple of friends.
