I'm actually sad to write a bad review for an Indian restaurant, as I love Indian food and was never disappointed when ordering it (no matter where in the world). But this time I'm almost shocked because it's actually unbelievable what we got for the really high price we paid. For the first time in my life I ordered a main dish for 14€ and rice was not included (this makes the restaurant more expensive than much, much better Indian restaurants in Lisbon or even Munich, Germany). Alright - if we had to order the rice separately and pay extra(!), then it's like that. We should have noticed that when ordering there. But still I cannot understand all the good reviews here, because that food was far from tasty! The Butter Chicken didn't even taste like a Butter Chicken, more like cheese (how's that even possible?). The "Naan" was something I've never seen before. Maybe the people who eat here have never tried real Indian food (which is sad, it's actually one of the best cuisines). We also called the restaurant. Also the first time in my life I did that, actually I never complain, but this time I was just so disappointed. The only thing the person on the phone told me was that we should come there and eat there instead - but where's the point in the delivery option then? Maybe it's indeed better if you eat there, but I lost all my faith in this place and for sure wouldn't eat there again. I still feel sorry for that very bad review, but for me it's unbelievable that somebody offers such low quality food for these prices. Still - all the best for you. Maybe they will do...
Read moreA little hard to spot as it is up a set of stairs on the first floor and signage is easy to pass. Once in there it is clean, open, airy and simply decorated. They serve alcohol and take electronic payment. We were only interested in the Indian food but the menu was vast with offerings from all over the world. There are 2 pages of vegetarian dishes. We asked about the vegan options. They have prepared a separate vegan menu but you have to ask for it. We asked if the onion bhaji was cooked in same oil as the chicken and they said yes. Be aware of this however Ricki the server said they would cook it separately if we wanted. Very grateful for this kind attention! The bhaji was too pasty (moist) in the middle for our liking but was tasty nonetheless. I chose Tarka Dal made with yellow split peas and it was superb. My partner had spicy fish masala (recommended by Ricki) which he loved (it's hard to get curried fish here). He ordered garlic naan and we loved the garlic rice. There is only naan on the bread menu. With poppadums and 2 canecas of Heineken just under €40. Ricki's service was pleasant and helpful and in English! A strange location but totally...
Read moreThis is THE best Indian restaurant in Setubal. My family and I have tried three other Indian restaurants in town, and Singh Food House, tucked in a quiet residential neighborhood, is the best by far. Everything we've ordered has been so flavorful. Just outstanding! One of my favorites, so far, is the vegetable karahi along with the garlic rice. Do yourself a favor and order the garlic rice. It's so good! The naan is also very delicious. We love the cheese and garlic naan as an appetizer and the plain or garlic naan with dinner for dipping. They have vegan, and gluten-free options along with the requisite veggies, meats, and fish. They also serve western-style foods like pizza and burgers, but we have not tried them yet. I'm sure they are also very good. The dining room is welcoming and very pleasant, capable of hosting larger parties. The service is also outstanding. Our server has always been Ricky, and he is very knowledgable about the food and is very kind and attentive. His brother is the talented chef and we always feel the food is cooked with care and fresh ingredients. There is something for everyone in this gem of...
