A good experience once we were permitted to sit outside. The staff felt it would rain and so we would then have to go inside (though no tables available so they were concerned and we were ok to wing it outside for a quick snack). We were betting on an extension of what was a perfect sunset and no precipitation and it was early so we didn't see the problem. In Portugal most folks eat after 8.30 and it was 7pm. Staff could be friendlier as others have expressed. 4 of us consumed pimentos patron, peixinhos da Horta (beans covered in batter), cured ham (presunto) with toast that was better quality than many (can be stringy and hard to chew on). Our favourite is gambas a guilho that we also prepare at home (usually we make thus: prawns, white wine, olive oil, some butter, chilli sauce( piri piri), cilantro, lots of garlic, and lemon juice - can add some more spices like turmeric etc. Prawns can also left in this marinade for the night for added flavour). We always dip the bread in the left-over sauce that can add a few pounds- not food combining for sure - though heck - when in Portugal do as...
Read moreThis place is an incredible gem in a beautiful community! They accommodated our American group of four spectacularly. The sparkling sangria was so refreshing, and the meal was quite possibly the best meal my partner and I have had in years! It was that good that we had to consider years of meals in comparison. The service was spendid and all our servers were kind and gave brilliant recommendations, especially the garlic shrimp starter. I would recommend any and everything we had. We somehow managed to eat desert despite eating so much, and it did not disappoint! The chocolate cake was the cherry on top for a perfect meal! It was raining the night we ate, but if you get good weather, the outdoor view is phenomenal! Go here. Get there early if you can, they are so good they will run out of some fresh seafood goodness...
Read moreBeautiful restaurant and lovely table on the terrace. The oysters were great and the food was mostly lovely. The wine was expensive for the area but to be fair this is a very touristy spot and has an absolutely incredible view. We were a little surprised that the service felt so haphazard. Everyone was very nice but our waiters walked off a number of times before we'd finished ordering, the food came at odd intervals and the table was cleared before one person had finisheed and simple things like we were offered to taste the rose but not the red. For the price we were paying it felt like it should have been more polished. Overall a beautiful place and great view and atmosphere but for the prices on the menu the food and service should have been a step up...
