Restaurante Prego & Mar — Restaurant in Sintra

We were coming from Sintra and were quite famished from spending the afternoon there touring the area.

Service has been challenging in areas far from the tourist areas because of the language but luckily enough a couple of the servers spoke english.

We ordered the bread basket and they gave us a variety of spreads to try with it, we also got the Sliced Beef Au Jus along with the Scrambled Egg with Farinheira tapas to start. They also suggested sangrias for us to try which were both tasty to go along with the tapas.

The main dishes we got were the grilled octopus and cod fish. The octopus was soft and tender while the cod had a tasty char to it. All in all a lovely meal in a part of the city where it isn’t touristy.

Our server also treated us to a portuguese liqueur shots which was a little strong but went down smooth.

Restaurante péssimo,a não repetir. Ao chegarmos ao restaurante,vimos que não tinha multibanco. Perguntamos se tinha pagamento por mbway,e foi dito que sim. Ok,entramos e pedimos 3 pregos no prato,um deles com o ovo bem passado e uma travessa de camarão. O camarão chegou 30 minutos depois,e noto se perfeitamente que tinha acabado de ser cozido. Sem sal e a casca agarrada ao camarão, sendo um restaurante/marisqueira. Ainda era para pedir uma sapateira, más ainda bem que não pedi, senão sabe deus o tempo que ia ficar á espera,e como chegava á mesa. Passados 20 minutos,chegam os preços,e o que teria que vir com o ovo bem passado,vinha normal. Peço para passar melhor o ovo e esqueçam. Veio completamente sem gema. Entretanto peço uma segunda cerveja,essa nem chegou a vir. Na altura dos cafés,pedimos 3 e vêm só 2. Disse que faltava um café,e lá veio o outro. Pedimos a conta e o nr para fazer o mvway. Ai é que entra a empregada,arrogante a dizer,o mvway já atingiu o limite. Questionamos, então como pagamos??? A empregada,arrogante e com falta de educação responde que estávamos a falar mal e que ela só tinha entrado às 14h,quando as 13,30h,foi a mesma que serviu a mesa. Fui levantar dinheiro,e lá fui pagar. Peço NIF na fatura e para meu espanto é me dito... Não conseguimos por o NIF,porque a conta já está fechada. Eu questiono,como assim??? O dono ou gerente faz uma chamada,e diz que é preciso NIF numa fatura. Então lá me foi dito que iriam enviar por email. Realmente enviaram a fatura por WatsApp por vista da meia noite ,mas só após insistência minha com vários SMS,porque consegui o nr de tlm na página do restaurante. Resumindo,restaurante péssimo a todos os níveis. Desde o tempo de espera para comer,com a antipatia...

We stumbled on this gem coming out of Sintra and glad we did! Just a few km from the castle we were welcomed like family to this comfortable and modern restaurant. The owner was excited to share their specialties with us. We chose to go with meat dishes and he brought us one pork and one beef option. Both were perfectly seasoned, the pork was grilled to perfection and the thinly sliced steak resting in the 14hr Portuguese reduction sauce was absolutely amazing.

Stay away from the tourist areas and take a chance here, you wont be...
