Starting with the hors d'oeuvres, each bite was a testament to the chef's skill and creativity, even with simple olives, the lemon zest and garlic were perfectly appointed, setting the tone for the courses to follow.

The main courses at Dom Gula truly shine. The Bacalhau was cooked to perfection, flaky and tender, with a depth of flavor that speaks to its traditional roots. Equally outstanding are the jumbo Shrimp and Pork skewers; are succulent and grilled to just the right texture, bursting with freshness. My only note would be to cook the skewers a touch less, as some of the Pork medallions on the end of the skewer were a touch dry (I imagine it's tough to get things perfect when cooking with skewers over an open fire.) Even so, these mains were excellent.

What sets Dom Gula apart, beyond the food, is the attentive and kind wait staff. Their genuine care for the guests' experience is evident in every interaction, making you feel valued and welcomed.

My husband and I are repeat customers and our experience has always met our expectations. I highly recommend this restaurant. Menu changes daily with set menu. There is always a fish and meat dish which includes: soup, bread with olives, glass of wine or soft beverage. All for 7 Euros. Desert is optional for one extra Euro. I would call this a bargain. We stopped in on a hot summer day, and the space was an oasis of cool. Our server has a wonderful sunny demeanor, and cheerfully worked to bridge our lack of a shared language. His english was far better than our portuguese, and we had fun together finding the right words. He helped us select a delicious wine produced nearby, then showed us to the case to explain the seafood available that day and how it could be prepared. We had terrific sardines and a cuttlefish dish, both of which were so skilfully prepared, an excellent example of simple yet perfectly on point.
