Restaurante Japonês - SAPPORO — Restaurant in Torres Vedras

I have no idea how they got such a good rating. The sushi is mediocre at best. Staff didn't speak english so it was hard to communicate. I wrote down the items in the menu but somehow that didn't help. Got a soda instead of tea and the soup never arrived. Asked for wassabi although most sushi places bring it with the rolls. The staff's attempts of communication led us to believe they didn't have any so we just ate. When we were almost finished someone brought us wassabi without saying anything. Couldn't pay with a card at the counter so went back to the table and left cash. Outside the restaurant a waitress yelled after us that we didn't pay... they didn't even check the table. It seemed people working there have never been to a restaurant, let...

The price is good. The sushi have potential. On my last visit the rice was bad. I would still give it another try.

Rice was overcooked, turned into glue when chewing. Which is very unfortunate, because otherwise it was pretty good. Good ratio of fillings to rice. Fresh fish. Tasty toppings. The dumplings were not good. Most of the things on the menu you order in portions of 6 pieces so you get full before trying everything :) All things considered, it's not too big of an investment to give this place another try. Great sushi not so great customer service. It was extremely busy and we sat outside and we're basically forgotten. A non-sushi eater ordered chicken and it never came (even though we asked about it 3 separate times). When it came time to pay, they did not accept international credit cards.
