We went here after seeing reviews on trip advisor and google and thought it may be a good option. The place itself was nice looking and the decoration is nice and apparently they have live music on weekends. We looked at the menu and didn't really see much that took our fancy but then the waiter / helper explained that two or 3 tapas would be sufficient. So we decided that was a good way to go. It seemed as soon as they realized we weren't spending a ton of money they didn't care anymore. We ordered one dish that turned out to be cod but completely raw. I didn't say anything in the menu about it being raw so we didn't know. My wife is pregnant and should not eat raw fish so we explained. He did offer to get something else so my wife said let me check if I can eat it. She looked on net and saw it was not a good idea and told him ah no it's not possible to eat it and he just took it away as it wasn't going to be eaten. But didn't offer at all to replace it when we said it was definitely not edible for her we waited to see if he would come back and offer something else but he didn't.The rest of the food was ok hence 2 stars but not amazing at all. We decided to not go with desert. But then the waiter came over with a moose type thing and said the chef recommends we try this as desert and would we like to try it. We thought they may have been giving us a desert to make up for the other thing that wasn't edible . But upon receiving the bill we not only have to pay 8 euros for a dish we could't eat we also had another six euros added for a desert that the chef had just come up with especially for us. Not only that but while he was explaining about the desert one of the macaroons dropped of the plate and he caught it in his hand and apologized as he replaced it onto the plate ready to serve ( that desert was tasty though at least ) So in our experience it wasn't great. It's very difficult to refuse a desert brought to your table in the manner it was and I think that's a slightly cheeky upsell that I've not experienced before. In other restaurants they bring you small things at the end that are complimentary but I've never had to pay for stuff I didn't physically order. In short I would say try it if you want to as obviously we didn't have everything on the menu and there may be some tasty options but be careful what you order and also if they offer you anything else such as olives bread and a special desert everything is added to the bill. Our bill came to 41 euros without tip and I must admit for the same price there are much tastier...
Read moreWe came and the place was empty. After being seated they brought food to our table we didn’t order and they said “you’re only charged if you eat it”. After we said no, we watched the same plate get passed around to other tables.
We ordered and our food came out all together way too quickly. The salad was ok. The cod tasted as if it was cooked for hours and just sitting being warmed. We had two dishes and didn’t finish either. When the waiter asked if it was ok, we told him what we thought. He responded very snappy (almost rude) and was quick to clear the whole table.
The location outside was relaxing. We were not there during any of the live...
Read moreThis place is amazing, I can’t remember having ever had better service than we got here. The owner’s cook and serve and they know what they are doing. Here you will find both very traditional food from Portugal, and not as traditional. Ask for advice and they will offer it, and can even show you pictures of the food if you are unsure. Huge portions, great prices, amazing taste. And you will be dining inside the fortress in a beautiful setting. Can’t...
