We had a very nice meal at Ruben’s with freshly prepared food. It was early dining at 7pm and we were warming greeted. It host spoke very good English and we were explained the specials for the evening. The cod fish cakes were freshly made and were some the best we have had for a long time. The skewer of octopus, squid and prawn was unexpected and was very good. The pork steak was thinly cut and a little over cooked. We were warned that the portion sizes are large and he was not wrong. We didn’t have any room for dessert. It doesn’t have a sea view and the inside is as bit old fashion looking, but it does provide good food. The place opens at 7 and I think we arrived five minutes early.
Most people did not speak Portuguese in this group or had trouble communicating, we were made to wait outside in the rain, despite the fact that most of us had just walked 25 km.
Once inside we were screamed at for not sitting exactly where they wanted us to (even though we were the only clients). And for a big portion of the meal we were met with big sighs of impatience over our meal requests.
They did make an effort to accommodate the vegetarians in the group and the food was pretty tasty.

Read moreWe dropped into Ruben’s after a stage of the Camino. The host was fairly effortlessly servicing the whole restaurant solo with great language skills and explanation of the menu. FYI- the menu is slightly unclear on portions but the smallest is a very healthy main for one and the larger size is good for sharing between 2 or 3.
