KENTO SUSHI — Restaurant in Vila Nova de Gaia

Hidden between buildings, seems like nothing extravagant, just another local neighborhood sushi spot. But what a surprise we've had inside! The service could be rated well over 5 stars: very caring, cheerful and not pretentious (but always available and at sight). Sushi itself is a piece of heaven in your mouth. I've eaten at many sushi spots in several countries and almost always find an "overdose" of rice as a cheap filler joint with obvious flavours. This place was very different. In this case the unnecessary rice was replaced with super fresh fish and very interesting flavours coming from unexpected ingredients. My partner and I was craving for really good sushi. We are visiting the area and only found over priced fancy and over rated restaurants for tourists, especially when visiting cities like Porto. My suggestion is to come to gems like this family restaurant a bit far from the city centre. The chef and his colleauge were amazing and so friendly. Destaque para a simpatia e o esmero de um jovem casal que partiu para um desafio que é sempre difícil, o de um projecto de restauração sério e equilibrado, num local que não é de passagem nem de grande visibilidade ou Turismo. Por isso estão conscientes que só a qualidade e o atendimento cuidado os pode levar a triunfar. E claramente que o merecem, pela coragem, pela simpatia, pelo bem servir, com sushi de qualidade e muito boa relação qualidade preço. ...

PS: deixamos a foto do "antes e depois" do combinado de 50 peças... :-) . Além disso provamos ainda dois Temakis (muito bom), entradas como tempuras e gyosas, e tudo estava bom. No final um brigadeiro para cada um... No final uma conta que, após desconto, foi de 14€ por pessoa, claramente uma relação excepcional preço - qualidade (relação justa preco-qualidadade em termos do menu) ....
