Mar's Bar and Bistro — Restaurant in Vila Real de Santo António

Just had a fabulous late lunch at Mar's Bar. The food was amazing... chicken kebabs and chicken shoarma....both were freshly made and were juicy and succulent. Both came with salad and rice or chips, with a beautiful selection of homemade sauces....garlic, satay and a yummy creamy salad dressing.....and the portion sizes were very large. Icing on the cake was the jug of Sangria. The best I have had in Portugal so far! Full of fresh fruit (oranges, apples, pears, strawberries and blackberries) and made from scratch. Visited Mars Bar in Manta Rota numerous times over the past 8 years with husband, friends, and family. Friendly atmosphere, Staff attentive & friendly. Food is very good, we especially like the Ribs and Chicken Kebab, salad, with peanut satay sauce, Garlic Mayonnaise our favourite, and very popular, salads are good too .Drinks reasonable price. Recommend booking a table in high season, especially for a special occasion, popular place, can get busy. A nice bar restaurant with decent but not great food. I ordered a chili con carne which was OK but not enough flavor or spice. My wife had scampi and chips which were good, but a bit heavy on the batter with quite small shrimp inside. I will say the portions were generous and the prices very reasonable.
