A real experience with great seafood, staff and fantastic atmosphere. We visited T’Avont Friday night. It was almost deserted when we arrived for our 7.45pm booking but was full when we left with people waiting for tables. After our excellent meal of clams and grilled seabass it was obvious why! Clams were excellent - white wine, olive oil, a little lemon and not too much garlic and a healthy portion. Grilled seabass (perfect size for two) was filleted with skill at the table and was the best we have had - as good if not better than any in London. Served with a small salad and sautéed potatoes. We had a very good and keenly priced bottle of white wine. Service was very good given how busy T’Avont was. As far as we could tell we were the only English among Portuguese families of various sizes but not a problem - all serving staff spoke flawless English - and we were made to feel very welcome. Read moreMy partner and I dropped in for lunch without booking. No problem, we were immediately seated in the outdoor covered terrace. We ordered refreshing white sangria with fruit, which was good and ordered clams “a bulhao pato”. These were good with lots of garlicky juice, but a bit too salty. We then had coastal shrimp - tasty but over-cooked in my opinion; very difficult to peel off the shell and the shrimp meat was a little rubbery. We were not given any moist finger wipes to clean off. We shared the mixed fish grill. Fish seemed fresh and well cooked though again, a lot of salt. We had couverts to start, 2 coffees and a bottle of water and paid €68 between the 2 of us.
