Went there 2 times during our stay in Vila Viçosa. The food was overall very good. I would recommend the “Carne de Porco Alentejano” the Codfish and “Lombinhos” (the best ones in the village in my opinion). I would say the only course that we did not enjoy 100% was the “Bife à Safari”, maybe only as a personal choice but we were not the biggest fans of the sauce and we would suggest that the amazing chips that come with it should come in a separate plate next time. The deserts were also very good, but they always change so you should ask the staff. As for the restaurant experience, i would recommend dinning outside so you enjoy the amazing weather and scenes. Service was a bit confused to begin with because we speak only English, and our server was not fluent.
But then we ordered the food and saw the vast local wine list. Ordered a great local Reserva, the black pork steak, along with the cod, shrimp and spinach casserole.
The wine was great, both meals spectacular, and it has been our best dinner to date on our Euro vacation.
