Went there first time, as wanna try some thing different than Zoaq. Ambiance is much better than Zoaq, though parking is an issue. However, they have valet parking.
We ordered Chicken corn soup for the kids, which was good. In Chinese, the dishes ordered were
chicken Manchirian (QAR. 32) Chicken roasted cashew nut (QAR. 28) Spice & Sizzle Chow Mein Special (QAR. 24)
We liked Manchurian and chew mein. Cashew nut chicken was too bland. However, our chow mein order was wrong ,a s we had ordered chicken and vege. however, we were served with all the items i.e including beef and prawn. When we mentioned it to the server, he offered to replace it but it is going to take another 10-15 minutes , so we decided to stay with what we had already been served.
In Pakistani Dishes, we tried Chicken Karahi and chicken Shahi Malai Moti. Malai boti was fantastic however was totally disappointed with Chicken karahi.. TOO too spicy with a strong smell of oil(or butter).
SO, first the service was ,pathetic to say the least. Though can see many waiters/servers but literally once has to call them twice to get their attention. There is no concept that a server should be around or visit after 10 minutes or so to see if any thing is required. Also, the service was slow if u ask for additional tissues/water. We were not in a mood to talk with the manager ,but surprisingly, the Manager, Mr. Fawad Khan himself came on our table to ask about our overall experience. He politely listened to all of our suggestions and he agreed that many (if not most) staff is new and he is trying to educate them to serve the tables. he also apologized for the wrong order of chow mein, So frankly speaking, the best part of the experience was the Manager!
Overall, quantity of the food is less as compared to Zoaq, but also the price is also slightly less.. We only liked Chinese dishes. So we may go again for Chinese and only for the...
Read moreWe have been invited by our Doha base friend who are regular customer of this restaurant. At the start when we enter in to the restaurant everyone was very pleasant and welcoming. We have been offered a separate sitting private area which was quite traditional and we liked it very much. We ordered few dishes Starter Chicken soup unfortunately chicken was smelly Dynamite prawn was ok Seekh kebab were juicy but still there was something missing e.g they didnot use anything to get rid of meat smell. Main course we ordered Palak goshat That was the only thing which was prepare well. Dal Mash was look like tomatoes dal mash full of tomatoes paste And Dal mash taste was disappeared because of excessive amount of tomatoes used. We have ordered tawa qeema which they totally forgot and we were almost towards end and asked them where is our tawa qeema They said sorry we are bringing Tawa qeema was not cooked properly It's need to be prepare atleast another 5 minute to bring the flavour. Reason I am writing this My friend spend more then 500 Qatar Riyal on this And they force me not to complain as we visit this place quite often But I am sorry to say Chef with long Mushtaches need to get training please Total waste of money and not...
Read moreAfter much hype and recommendation we finally went to Spice & Sizzle. It is located at a nice location with decent parking available on its backside. The restaurant has a nice decor and is reasonably full anytime you go there. The waiters and the service staff is ok as well. Because of the high volume of orders coming through the service is a little on the slower side. The prices are fairly reasonable and a family of 4 can enjoy their food within 100 to 150 riyals. Coming down to the most important bit. The taste! Well that's where the 2 stars went away. we ordered a mix grill and Mutton Kadhai...another Chicken Curry for which I dont remember the exact name and Chicken Biryani. The problem was that it didn't live upto the hype at all. We have had much better grills at other similar range Pakistani Restaurants and many other cheaper and 10 times tastier alternatives in Doha. The grill was bland and lacked proper marination. Secondly the biggest problem in the curries is the over use to tomatoes. They were bland and overly sweet. The biryani was unable to save the show as well. I will definitely not recommend this place. There are many better Pakistani & Indian restaurants to...
