A Hidden Gem in the Mountains – Absolutely Perfect!

We visited Sergiana – Stana Turistică, and honestly, it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Romania!

⸻

🏞 Location & Surroundings: • The restaurant is tucked away in the mountains, surrounded by forest and stunning nature. • The road to get there is a bit rough, but totally manageable — and absolutely worth it. • Plenty of free parking space available right in front.

⸻

🪵 Ambience: • A charming, rustic wooden cabin with beautiful traditional decor – lots of wood, stone, fur, and handmade details. • Massive outdoor terrace with panoramic mountain views. • The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and authentic. You really feel like you’re in a mountain lodge.

⸻

🍽️ Food: • Exceptional traditional Romanian cuisine. • Everything was freshly made, with meats grilled over charcoal and stews cooked in cast iron pots. • Our top picks: • Lamb stew cooked in a cauldron – tender and packed with flavor. • Grilled lamb chops – juicy and perfectly cooked. • Venison ragout – rich, tender, delicious. • Mushrooms in wine sauce – light and flavorful. • Oxtail soup – absolutely delicious. • Plus grilled vegetables, homemade bread, and traditional mămăligă (polenta). • Every dish was perfectly seasoned and made with love.

⸻

🎶 Service & Vibes: • Super friendly, fast, and helpful staff. • The highlight: live music right at the table — beautiful traditional Romanian folk music. • The service was surprisingly fast (possibly because it wasn’t too busy), and everything was fresh and hot.

⸻

💸 Price & Value: • For four people — lots of food and drinks — only about 600 RON (120€ total, 30€ per person). • Honestly an incredible deal for the quality, location, and experience.

⸻

✔️ Conclusion: • 🌟 Unique mountain location • 🍽️ Fantastic traditional food • 🎶 Wonderful atmosphere with live music • 🌲 Breathtaking mountain views • 🚗 Plenty of parking • ❗️ Note: The road is a bit bumpy, but 100% worth it.

⸻

Yesterday my boyfriend, one of my friends and I went to this restaurant which we were recommended by a friend. Based on the reviews and the location we thought it would be a great place to eat. The atmosphere and style of the place was amazing but we were soon disappointed by the service as the staff member was quite rude and seemed to be in a bad mood. We ordered the 4 person meat platter which we had to wait an hour for it to arrive. When we ordered we weren’t asked how we would like the steak cooked so we asked for the beef steak to be cooked medium rare, which they said they would do as that is how the always cook it with the platter. When the platter arrived the steak was burned and cooked well done. They pork steak was undercooked as well. When we asked the server to take the steak back she took it off our plate but then she returned with the same steak a few minutes later and said that the chef told her that is how he cooks it and he won’t cook a new one for us, despite her telling us she would get us a new steak. We didn’t eat the steak or the pork and instead left it on the side of the table. We weren’t offered any alternatives or apologies we were just told that’s how it’s cooked and we should eat it like that. We ate some chicken, mici and chips which was cooked well and enjoyable however we couldn’t eat half of the platter. When leaving we weren’t offered any apology or explanation for the bad meat. Next time we visit Brasov we definitely wouldn’t come back here, despite the nice location our experience was not enjoyable. The staff need better customer service training as they weren’t interested at all in us having a good...

Review for end of August 2022, after several visits for lunch in all seasons.

Friendly staff Delicious & tasty food. Do try anything beef/pork related. Soups & Ciorba(s) are extremely tasty. Beef soup is served with sour cream and large chunks of beef meat. Also received part of beef's tail. Kid ate all serving!

Decorations are really nice. At the inside you can see stuffed animals (bears, wolf, bear skins, stuffed birds, deer horns, wild hogs, etc). Really educative for kids.

Each food order gets you an oven baked bread, served almost hot. Really tasty.

Second plates courses are rather large. Leftovers could be arranged for take-away, just ask the waiter.

Menu contains a lot or different plates, but can be rather hard to read in Romanian, even for a native person. Old words and playful combination of sentences describe each course. See menu details attached as photos.

It can get crowded during opening, lunch time so expect sone delays in serving.

There are also 3 outdoor serving areas: -in front of the restaurant (nicely shaded from the sun), at the back of restaurant (here tables are spaced really well and there is a sense of privacy. Large sun umbrellas are available) at the back of restaurant in a sort of patio. Do recommend calling ahead for a reservation!

Parking on gravel, plenty of spaces. Also there is an EV charging station. (didn't pay...

Stunning restaurant that we randomly discovered on a hike so decided to go in and check it out. Had no reservation but were seated by the friendly staff straightaway. Beautiful rustic design and felt very authentic with absolutely stunning uninterrupted views across the mountains. We were hoping that we’d be able to find a few Romanian vegetarian dishes as we hadn’t gotten to try local cuisine yet. As someone whose diet is strictly halal and no seafood - we struggled to find genuinely nice vegetarian food in Romania so after 5 days of eating awful vegetarian dishes, we hoped we’d get better here. There weren’t many appealing options on the menu for us but we chose what we could eat just so we could try it - the food was ok - presented well and large portions - the dishes we ordered were decent but I won’t comment too much about the food as my restrictive diet prevented me from really having the authentic food experience - I’d just say that finding good vegetarian dishes in a meat eating country is quite difficult as there are few options. Staff and service was amazing however.
