Last night, my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Atelier du Vin, and it was truly a delightful experience. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by attentive service that is characteristic of the warm hospitality found in Kigali.
The ambiance of the restaurant is very inviting, with a spacious layout that features both indoor and outdoor seating options. It creates a lovely setting for a meal, although we did notice that the grandeur of the space felt a bit empty with only a few other couples dining alongside us. While the atmosphere was serene, we missed the lively buzz that usually accompanies a high-end restaurant.
Now, onto the food! We kicked off by sharing a beef carpaccio, strangely enough served with mayo on top, but otherwise quite nice. I then savored the beef medallions, which were cooked almost to perfection (sauce perhaps on the salty side according to my taste buds), while my wife enjoyed a gigantic mushroom risotto that was full of flavor. For dessert, I opted for the lava cake, which was good, albeit not as molten as one would hope - seeming to have spent a bit too long in the oven. My wife’s Coupe Bresilienne, on the other hand, was a delightful finish to our meal.
A highlight of the evening was the live music, which added a lovely touch to our overall dining experience. It truly enhanced the atmosphere and made our time there even more special.
In summary, Atelier du Vin offers excellent service, a beautiful setting, and delightful food. While the spaciousness can create a sense of solitude on quieter nights, it’s clear that this venue is perfect for larger functions and events. We look forward to visiting again, perhaps on a busier evening that can bring that warm, bustling vibe to life! Highly...
Read moreGreat staff, however, the food was Terrible. I thinks people go there for the ambiance, wine, definitely not the food. If possible I would highly recommend maybe additional training for the chefs and/or make a new hire.
I did not like the loud blasting music while eating and talking with friends@ 8:30pm on a Friday, half full restaurant, while families with kids were there; Very Tacky.
It would be better to wait till later 10 or 11pm in the evening to start blasting the music. Nobody likes yelling at each other during dinner, that early in evening people are chatting/talking over dinner. Turn up the volume later in the evening when people are looking to party.
I did appreciate that the staff, did not charge (deducted)me for my order; since I barely ate any of my food. But I left a tip for what I would have paid if I had ate my food .
But the staff is really kind and helpful. Atelier du Vin needs to work on their...
Read moreAmbiance is five stars. Best I've seen in Kigali. Decor plus view - indoor outdoor space is well done. The price-value equation needs work. Especially with food. The high prices (relative to other restaurants in Kigali) would need to be matched by excellent execution. Unfortunately, my chicken was unexceptional (flavour, texture, portion size, presentation), the side was mediocre (texture, flavour, presentation), and the food arrived barely warm. I have a fairly small appetite, but despite ordering an appetizer and a main course, I was still hungry afterwards. It's a new restaurant, so hoping they quickly adjust either their food quality or their prices to ensure the price-value equation is better balanced. I the meantime, I would recommend going for a drink and the view, rather than...
