Pleasant venue and very mindful service quite saved the day here, for me. My first visit I expected would live up to some of the good that I'd heard. And it nearly did. Only a poor steak, at a premium steak restaurant, pulls down the final score.
I'm no fan of the clubby music most places are filled with anymore, but when a family came in some time after me it was soon turned off. So no points off on that, thankfully. Otherwise the environment was great, though there's not much of a view if that's what you're after.
I enjoyed the Caesar Salad; even its non-traditional extras gave it a nice lift. Bread and butter at a steakhouse is not to be taken lightly, and they did great on that, too (except for repeatedly trying to take it away throughout the meal, why?!). I had to ask for my wine a second time after the salad but, when it came it was perfect. And the Garlic Green Beans (very, very garlicky) were outstanding, perfectly cooked and generous.
Only the steak missed target. I ordered the Filet Mignon, but a sort of tenderloin arrived. It looked nicely grilled, but proved very tough. Again, the servers made a great difference; they quickly realised an issue and wanted to help. "Let us make you another," they asked. I agreed.
When that plate came, the meat was perfectly medium rare and delicious. But it was not any recognisable steak. It had been sliced into strips! "To make it quicker," they explained. I did enjoy it, although I felt a bit like a nine-year-old boy who isn't allowed a proper knife at the adults' table...
Details aside, I very much enjoyed the meal. I lingered with a second glass of the Malbec (might have been a third, if a first had been timely). Can't say I would order the Poached Apple again, as it was tiny and bland.
I can't give up on any restaurant after just one try, even one that falls a bit short. I will hope the best for Inka as I look forward to...
Read moreVery nice place , very nice people , good food ...BUT , watch out when drinking liquor , I specifically asked for singles on the specified liquor they gave me as I have never had this specific liquor , and when it came it was a very nice drink. Then later I went to the bar to re-fill as my waiter was otherwise engaged and the Barman poured a double tot and I mentioned that I only have singles , he then assured me it is on the house from him to me for visiting this Restaurant : INKA. When I tasted it as I was expecting to
really feel the kick NOW
, it tasted the same as the previous drinks? I said to the waiter why does this taste exactly like the other if the other was a single , he mentioned because I have ice with my drink they put more in with the singles that with the double So he was able to pour more Mix with the Double ? I thought it was odd but I left it there and had a few more after that but assured it is all Singles. Then quite later when we settled the bill, and we were a big crowd it all became apparent thatall the time they were pouring Doubles and charging the HELL
out of this , as per the list the drink was 3000 Rfw for a single , was charged Rfw 6000 excluding the Mix...Watch Out BIG TIME CROOKS THERE ..but.... my loss, and I have learned and will never... Read moreMy family and I had a very bad experience here. The treatment we received from the wait staff was beyond terrible. They downright refused to serve us the drinks we ordered and appeared enormoured by the group of visible foreigners who arrived well after we did.
They dished out warm towels and had the drinks flowing for them in short order. We received no such service and sat looking on in shock and disgust.
The manager was apologetic and seemed taken aback by the fact we were totally ignored despite having kids (including a baby) with us. She offered to waive the bill for the meal. I refused the offer outright. I needed them to know we were not looking for a free meal and were more than able to foot our bill.
BTW, the drinks never came. Neither did the warm towels.
Your staff must do better than this Inka. This was both hurtful and embarrassing at the same time. You are not being...
