I am truly disappointed by what La Créola Restaurant in Kimihurura has become. This place, which was once welcoming and warm, has lost all its charm.
The cocktails, which were one of the restaurant's signature offerings in kigali, have changed in taste and quality. What used to be an enjoyable experience has now become something very mundane.
The atmosphere has also changed drastically. Now, there are people sitting with their laptops, watching us as if we are under surveillance, which makes the place feel uncomfortable. It’s no longer somewhere you can relax and enjoy your time.
The staff has changed too. The welcoming smiles, like those like certain samba, have disappeared. And even Alen, who once brought warmth and professionalism to the service, is no longer there. This has really degraded the experience.
What’s even more frustrating is that every time an employee leaves, it’s as though they take a part of the restaurant’s soul and the connection with certain regular customers with them. It’s clear that these constant departures are affecting the overall atmosphere and negatively impacting the experience.
Furthermore, it’s unacceptable that tables are not properly cleaned after service. Hygiene seems to be neglected, which leaves a bad impression and detracts from the overall dining experience.
All of this points to a deeper management issue. the small details that made the difference are no longer there.
I am truly saddened to see a restaurant with so much potential deteriorate like this. I will not return until these issues are addressed. I sincerely hope the owners takes this feedback seriously and makes the...
Read moreMy initial impression was when I arrived you have to walk across a rocky broken cement construction area to get into the restaurant this is their property and this is their first impression you would think they would fix it. I had a 8:00 reservation and when I arrived they did not have a table for me in fact they could not find the reservation. Finally after waiting 30 minutes or so they how to set ready. There was a barbecue buffet which was supposed to have beef sausage legs and wings and goat and other meat. We ordered tea when we sat down. The buffet was out of everything except for the beef sausage. They ran out of salad. They told me they were making more chicken and more salad and they would bring it to me when it comes out. 2 hours later nothing. They didn't even bring the tea. During the last 2 hours I asked seven different people including two managers that I'm still waiting for my drinks since I've been seated. One manager says I'll take care of it myself right now and I never came. 45 minutes later I told them I'm leaving! They said please let me get your drinks. I'm like you said that an hour and a half ago. The even brought the full bill after not eating any other things that were on the menu except for one link of beef sausage at three pieces of fried potato. I don't know how A Place could be that on organised it was absolutely the worst restaurant experience I've had in the history of my dining experience and being in the...
Read moreYet another restaurant in Kigali promising the food wonders of a foreign land only to deliver the same old local sluggish service. I cannot really speak for the food (the tomato appetizers they served us were made with stale bread, if that is of any use), we left the place without eating anything after 40 minutes of waiting for two lousy starters that, in any other restaurant, would have been served within 5 minutes of ordering them (prawn tempura and the local Falafel). We went at lunch time (12:20), the place was TOTALLY EMPTY and yet they were unable to produce any food for 40 minutes!!!! FORTY minutes!!! That's the performance of a typical local Rwandan restaurant, but at 10 times the cost. I went there with three hungry kids, and it did not make any difference that I kept begging the waitress to please hurry up at least with the starters. We also ordered three dishes from the kids menu, but this restaurant does not have the minimum sensitivity to understand that kids cannot wait 40 minutes for some lousy mac and cheese, for god's sake!! The menu seemed expensive but I did not mind it for as long as we were given a treatment according to the price tag. And that included not only the (supposedly) wonderful food, but also the pace at which it is served. As said, the same old slow Kigali service with...
