I recently had the chance to try Baozi after seeing a tempting discount on a delivery app. Having a love for bao, I couldn't resist the opportunity to finally taste what they had to offer.
We ordered quite a few dishes to get a good sense of the menu: the brisket charcoal bao, brisket fries, braised brisket sando, salted caramel wings, Loca chicken bao, and Szechuan noodles with tempura shrimp. The discount definitely made it a more attractive option, but unfortunately, the portion sizes didn’t fully match up to the price.
The servings were a bit on the smaller side, especially considering the price, which felt a little expensive for the amount of food. In terms of taste, my son absolutely loved the salted caramel wings, which had a great balance of sweet and savory. I personally enjoyed the brisket charcoal bao and the Loca chicken bao – both had great flavor and were satisfying in terms of texture and seasoning. However, I found the Szechuan noodles to be a little on the oily side, which wasn't my favorite aspect of the meal.
Overall, the experience was decent. The flavors were solid, but I felt the value for the price could have been better. If you're looking for good bao and unique takes on classic dishes, Baozi is worth trying, but I would have liked to see a bit more in terms of portion sizes for the...
Read moreI would go back again simply because the Bao buns were delicious but my comments are:
The menu has no pictures of the food available and although the waiter has an iPad with pictures of the food on it, it is not a nice way for a group to see what is available. The restaurant really under sells itself i.e. from the outside, a casual passer by would never give this place a try. Why is there no outside menu with pictures showing what food is on offer? No hot drinks i.e. coffee or tea was available yet were listed on the menu! come on, as a temporary fix, buy a Nespresso machine from SACO! The waiter is poorly trained - he did not offer us a dessert after clearing our plates and after our desert, did not offer drinks or ask if we want the bill (the restaurant was very quiet). The place lacked a intimate or cosy feel.
Would I go back? yes as the food was great but the owners need to make a few improvements especially as this industry is so...
Read moreThe BEST bao bun in town 🤤🤍 the crabs Salad is amazing, love this place great vibes, street with red neon signs inside the place gives you this Asian Streets feeling, comfortable seating, fairly fast service, prices are super responsible. Even the busboy would take your extra order with no hesitations or delay to ask the waiter assistance. You gotta try to Mongolian beef Bao and the Crabs Salad. Mojitos are also cool in this place, ask for less ice. Would come here at least once a month, its very rare to find comfort food that is also Asian, this...
