I Visited the Alaziziyyah branch of Al Baik in Mecca. Al Baik is the largest local food chain in Saudi Arabia. It's like their own McDonald's but more focused on chicken.
Women are not allowed inside and there's a small room outside the main building called the "Ladies Serving Room" where there are no tables, just a single cement bench and a small monitor for ordering. Wild. I went with my wife so she had to wait there until I told her to just go back to our hotel so we could share the meal
There's a line for ordering where you pay before getting your order. But when your get your number, it's a free for all to get the service staff to make your order. I had to "haggle" and plead with the guys behind the counter to even acknowledge my existence.
I finally got one of the guys to put my order together by, slapping my receipt into his hand while he was talking with someone else.
Now to the food. We ordered their main dish, the fried chicken, which they call Broasted (Broil/ Roasted?). The taste was ok, less greasy but nothing spectacular.
Fries were soggy and seem to be the extruded type from a factory.
The nuggets were actually quite a decent size and didn't look too processed. They had a, oatmeal-like batter. They gave ketchup, garlic sauce and chilli.
The ice cream dessert was thick and creamy. Very good. But the orange juice tasted like it was off. Not sure if it was because it had less sugar in it.
Overall, it's still quite an experience that is worth bringing friends to for curiosity but I'm guessing the charm wears...
Read moreI recently visited the Albaik branch in Aziziyah, Makkah, and my experience was extremely disappointing—definitely not worth the hype.
First of all, the food was served cold. It seems they prepare everything in bulk and just hand it out without checking the temperature or freshness. Despite the insane crowd, the quality control was completely missing.
The staff taking orders was extremely rude and impatient. They rushed us to order without giving us a chance to properly go through the menu—especially frustrating for someone visiting for the first time. The attitude was unprofessional, as if they were doing us a favor by taking our order.
After placing the order, the waiting time was nearly 2-3 hours, even though our number was shown on the screen. Still, we were told to wait more. At the collection counter, there was no proper system—you just stand in line, and the staff randomly gives out orders at their own convenience. It was chaotic and stressful.
When we finally received our food, it was ice cold and tasted nothing like what people usually rave about. The chicken broast was below average, dry and lacking flavor. Only the nuggets were somewhat decent. Honestly, KFC offers a far better experience in terms of taste and service.
I wouldn’t recommend this branch at all. If you’re planning to try Albaik for the first time, this place will likely ruin the impression. Overhyped, mismanaged, and completely...

On my visit, I couldn't resist trying their famous broasted chicken, succulent chicken fillets, and a refreshing serving of coleslaw. The verdict? Simply delicious! The taste was exceptional, and the prices were budget-friendly, especially when compared to its competitors. Albaik proves that quality doesn't always come with a hefty price tag. 🤑👌
But, let's address the elephant in the room - the crowd. Prepare to be greeted by long queues and a bustling atmosphere. It's a testament to the restaurant's popularity, but it's advisable to arm yourself with patience during peak hours. 🙆♂️🙆♀️
