I love Pakistani food. There is no other way to say it, and they don’t compromise when it comes to food. I’ve been in Jeddah for a few days now and my colleagues decided to take me to “Makkah Restaurant” in the Al Baghdadiyah area for dinner. This restaurant is famous for their “Mutton Kadai”, and it is one of my absolute favourites but this version of the popular dish bowled me over. It wasn’t hard to understand why it was so good. The restaurant was packed and we found seating right next to where the kadai was being prepared. We also ordered the “Chicken Boti” and “Mixed Kebab” platter to satisfy our meat cravings. The “Mutton Kadai” was brought to our table in a sizzling platter and we dove right in. The meat was so succulent and flavourful that we polished off 4 full plates. The chicken boti was just as good or even better with the tender juicy chicken breaking up with absolute ease. This is one absolute gem of a place and not visiting this place would be an absolute miss....

Food tastes good. Mutton Kadhai is must try. Their Naans are unique and comes complimentary with all the curries. Overall good food.
Food is very oily which is I believe most Pakistani food is. Coming to the bad part, ambience is really bad and service is mediocre. You’ve to pay first and then eat although it’s Al a carte. Sometimes you smell the raw meat since the kitchen and cleaning area is right next to dining area and there’s absolutely no hygiene maintained. This is not acceptable. If you crave for Pakistani food especially Mutton Kadhai, this is a place you can visit once in a while but most certainly the ambience will turn you off. The management should consider upgrading the ambience, maintaining hygiene and improving service as currently, except the food’s taste, everything else is terrible. For its bad service, bad ambience and low hygiene, I’m not visiting this...

Makkah Restaurant in Sharafiya is a popular spot for authentic Pakistani food lovers. Their dishes are full of flavor — rich, spicy, and truly satisfying. Whether it’s biryani, karahi, or BBQ, the taste rarely disappoints.
However, the experience is not without its drawbacks. For single diners, finding a seat can be a real struggle, especially during peak hours. The restaurant also needs to pay more attention to hygiene and cleanliness, which could definitely enhance the overall dining experience.
Another downside is the service. While the staff is generally responsive, the constant hinting and expectation for tips by waiters can make customers uncomfortable. A little more professionalism in this area would go a long way.
Overall, it’s a good place if you’re craving Pakistani food — just be prepared for some compromises on cleanliness...
