Have been to street56 maybe 3 times.. but the 1st two times were about more than a year ago so that is probably why I did not review them 🤷🏽♀️
My first impression had been, cool atmosphere, good food, kind of slow service... but was happy to support a local family business nontheless..
HOWEVER, went yesterday (Friday afternoon around 3pm when they opened) for lunch with my brood and I am soooo happy that we did... had been in the mood for sushi, so we were actually going to Maki next door 😅 but checked their menu and thought a variety of Asian food might be the better option for my mood... Sadly did not take any pics because we were all pretty hungry...
The boa, the bibimpap, the crab salad, the crunchy roll... all were amazing, flavorful, and a big hit with my picky eaters.. The pad thai did not quite hit the mark, I was disappointed that the peanut sauce seemed absent, but it was still a good dish and we ate it (it is so hard to find quality Thai food in Saudi for some reason, if anyone knows a great authentic place in Jeddah PLZ let me know).... the regular noodles order also was a bit bland, missing some flavor, but we added sauce and lemon to it and were good to go... loved the snap peas and variety of veggies in it though.. Had mochi for dessert.. wish they had a couple of more flavors but we still enjoyed what we ordered...
The main stars of this whole visit were the two young men that were handling the register/entrance and the one that was taking our orders, Ali and Rayan. Both were SUPER polite and extremely accommodating. Rayan was friendly, knowledgable, patient as we asked a million questions about each order, and very helpful. My kids loved him!
Definitely will be back inshaAllah to try some other...
Read moreService: (3 out of 4) I had to seat my self, I had to grab the menu my self, I had to snap my fingers to get the waiter's attention and then he came to get the order. He was polite to be honest but the point is they need a some training in customer service. The other waiter was too busy with his phone to notice us in the beginning. I believe they have potential as young locals, they just need to be aware of customer needs and service.. The owner was very sweet and welcoming though..
Suggestion: The to go food needs a designated pick up area to ease take out orders
Food:(4 out of 4) Our order came out fast. The bao (shrimp, braised beef, chicken, duck) was warm from the outside and hot from the inside... It needs to be a bit hot from the outside than warm, probably because they waited to bring out all four at the same time.... The shrimp noodles was hot and yummy but it should have more shrimps for sure.
They were out of fresh juiced so I just had water..
For dessert I ordered the mochi, (which I love) was really good and nice variety of flavors (ordered all 6 flavors and got two free of charge which was a nice gesture).. It is not easy to find mochi in Jeddah so was excited to find it and it was worth it..
Toliet: (3 out of 4) Clean but tiny
Location: (4 out of 4) Amazing location, the restaurant itself is very nicely decorated, the ambiance was friendly, rock music was playing which was pretty awesome, and the place (including the view of the kitchen) was extremely clean.. Did not see the second floor though..
Price: ($$)
Would deffinitely recommend it and will come back to see if they add new items...
Read moreSoft opening at the moment but what an amazing experience I had with the family.
The place has a very nice and fresh vibe to it. My son commented that it looks like we are in China or somewhere outside if Jeddah.
Now to the food... Started with the quinoa salad. A simple but flavourful dish that we'll probably be coming back again and again for. We tried nearly all the bao sandwiches and all were great. The braised beef one was my fav and the Mrs really liked the chicken one. The crispy duck is also a nicr departure from what is on offer in most places. The wagyu beef sliders were a perfect fusion with the kimchi added. A definite try. We also had the chicken veg noodles (not on menu atm but can ask for it) and KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) also not on menu. The noodles were 'refreshing', fresh and full of flavour. Kids loved the KFC but was sweet for my palette. To top it all off had the shaved ice. Is served with pop rock candy that took me back to childhood days.
All in all a very pleasant addition to the Jeddah food scene. Shout out to brothers Mohannad and Moeid (hope spelt that right) who were very friendly and patient with us and our kids and gave top notch recommendations. Definitely...
