I have been traveling to AlUla for work and fun since 2021, and Yemeni Taste is undoubtedly the best restaurant in the city.
You will get the real experience of Arab food, whether you sit on the ground or choose the tables. They will serve you the food relatively fast when compared to the fancy restaurants in town.
The menu could be overwhelming if you don't know what to get. I normally ask for 'lesson' and 'lesson in pottery' in the menu - those are lentils, and 'Fahsa' or 'Saltah' (beef stew); my next to go dishes are 'Crazy' (stew with tuna), or any of the 'beans' options. They also have 'Shashuka' (eggs). The Chai Adani is a must as well (karak tea). Everything is absolutely delicious.
The food is very generous. For 1-2 people, one dish is enough, or two if you don't get heavy on the bread. If you are 3 or more, get one dish less than the number of people.
They have a traditional dessert ('massob'). It's tick, heavy and big like a whole meal and consist of mixed banana, bread, cereal, cream and honey. I never get it on my own, and try it only when a newby goes to the restaurant.
Pricewise - unmatched. You pay here for the entire group what you might pay for one person in any of the overrated touristic restaurants.
The atmosphere: locals eat here, and by locals I don't mean the Saudis but everybody else. Saudis eat here too but it's not the typical Saudi restaurant (that's AlBaik, Burger's, or the fancy luxurious restaurants). The noise from the kitchen can be too much sometimes, but just forget about it. There is only one bathroom intended for men, but we women don't care and also use it (just ask a friend to watch). Ignore the discomfort cuz we came here to eat. It's open for breakfast and dinner only.
Service is great, despite language barrier. Just explore the menu, point what you want to the waiter, and tell him with your fingers how many of each. They might give you plates and spoons by default, or just ask for it. The default is using the...

We tried several dishes, including shakshuka, liver, meat, chicken, and the traditional dessert, masoub. The shakshuka was a standout, featuring a richly spiced tomato base and perfectly cooked eggs, making it a hearty and satisfying choice. The liver dish was tender and flavorful, seasoned with a well-balanced blend of spices that enhanced its natural taste. The chicken and meat dishes were equally impressive, showcasing juicy textures and bold, aromatic flavors characteristic of Yemeni cooking.
The highlight of the meal was the masoub, a traditional Yemeni dessert made with mashed bananas, bread, and honey. Its sweetness was perfectly balanced, making it a comforting and satisfying way to end the meal.
Portion sizes were generous, and the prices were reasonable, considering the quality and authenticity of the dishes. Yemeni Taste is not only a feast for the palate but also a cultural experience that gives visitors a taste of Yemen’s culinary heritage. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, this restaurant is a must-visit for those seeking genuine...
